Your final assignment in this class is to make a mini-documentary interview.

You will be paired

with a partner and each of you will be asked to interview and film each other. The final product
will be submitted on January 16th as your final assessment in this class.
You should follow these steps:
1. Prepare questions. The interview needs to be about what your partner has learned in
Film Studies this semester. Your questions should cover all the major topics in the
class. Write 15-20 questions and then submit them to Ms. Lyric for approval.
2. Conduct the interview. You are the whole crew for this interview so pay attention
to the set design, lighting and overall appearance of the frame. When asking
questions, be sure to have your subject restate the question in their answer for clean
editing. Also, dont be afraid to think of new questions in response to what your
subject has said. This shows that you are listening!
3. Shoot insert footage. You will want to have additional footage of your subject doing
things around the school so take some time to shoot them studying, engaging in
hobbies, walking, etc. This footage will be valuable during editing.
4. Edit. Create a cohesive narrative out of your footage that fully demonstrates your
ability to conduct an interview, frame and design a shot as well as your partners
knowledge of the subject matter.
