Educational Autobiography
For my experience in elementary school, I chose to represent it with the song ABC by
Jackson 5. I did not choose it because of the overall theme of the song, which is about a guy and a girl
who are flirting, but because parts of what it says sums up what elementary school is for. The chorus of
the song says, ABC, its easy as 123. I think this represents how I learned the basics in elementary
school. In elementary school, I learned things like how to add, subtract, multiply, read, and write,
which to me, is the basics. The song also says, Reading, writing, arithmetic are the branches of the
learning tree. This is true because most things that you learn branched from at least one of these
things. You can't learn anything else if you don't know how to read, write, add, or subtract. Although
the song ABC by Jackson 5 is about a guy and a girl flirting, I think that parts of it explain what the
basics to learning are, which is essential in elementary school.
I chose The Preamble by Schoolhouse Rock to represent my experience in middle school.
This song is not only accurate for what I learned, but it also is accurate because I was in
theSchoolhouse Rock musical in 8th grade. Part of the song says, In 1787 I'm told our founding
fathers did agree to write a list of principles for keeping people free. During middle school I learned
about the freedom of people, which is what I think this line is representing. It also explains how the
Constitution plays into my freedom as a citizen of the United States, which is also something I learned
in 8th grade. The song also states the preamble of the Constitution, which is, We the people, in order
to form a more perfect union, establish justice, insure domestic tranquility. Provide for the common
defense. Promote the general welfare and secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity.
Do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America. The Preamble represents
the rights that I have as an American and what American leaders do to protect me, which is something
that I learned throughout middle school. The preamble also taught me the duties American citizens
have to maintain a helpful country. The Preamble not only sums up what I learned in middle school,
but it also represents how I enjoy acting since I was in the Schoolhouse Rock musical.
My high school experience can best be represented with the song Be OK by Ingrid
Michaelson because it sums up how I was feeling towards education. One line of the song says, I just
want to know something today. Last year I felt like I wasn't learning very much day-to-day. This line
represents what learning was like during my freshman year by explaining that I just wanted to know
something. The chorus of the song also says, I just want to be OK. This also represents how my
schoolwork was stressing me out to the point where I just wanted to be okay. This taught me how to
manage my time, despite being busy. The song Be OK represents my attitude towards school in my
high school experience and explains what I learned.
