CLEANSED - SEASON2 PROMO

SETTING AND CHARACTERIZATION.

Setting
The setting of the show is in the future.
There has been some sort of alien
invasion. The idea is that if you get on the
wrong side of them then they will kill you
so this leads me to believe that it is a very
dangerous world to live in. The main
characters are on a river, and we are told
that they have to trust each other first to
help save the world, they also have Nature
in there way.

Characterizatio
n

The main boy who's name is John Profit seems to be able to dream. Dreams that
help them on there quest to rid there world of the aliens. There seems to be 4
people at least, 2 of them are girls and 2 are boys. The one boys seems to be
there saviour. The boys also seem to argue about who is in charge from the
little extract that I was given.
When you listen to the short extract the first person that you come hear is the
narrator, he has a very heavy monotone voice, we are not given a name for him.
The next person that you hear is the evil villain that has taken over there fallen
world as they fraise it. He seems a very angry person who also seem to
struggle to get people to do what he wants them to do without shouting at
them. Then the narrator introduces us to the main group he does this by
introducing them as John Profit and his rag tag group of heroes, from this extract
alone we can understand that they are meant to be to good guys that we are
about to hear. When we hear John for the first time he is trying to tell the rest of
the group that they have to stick and act like a team but the other boy in the
group who we now know is called Luke does not like this idea and says that they
should start shooting people. One of the girls in the group does not like this idea
and so she shouts out Luke's name to get his attention, this would leave me to
believe that he is the kind of guy who does not like to listen to people lightly. It
seems like the group has a very had time and trusting one another, when we
are given an extract from when they are on the river they are all shooting and
not getting along with one another. We also know that the evil person wants
something that Johns group has, some thing along the lines of missile cord, we
also know that John is defiant in saying No.

SPEECH AND WORDS.

Speech

In the extract that we are given, most of the time there voices are
straining to be heard above one another, they let a lot of there emotions
creep through what they are saying when they are speaking. For example
when we here extracts from the evil person his voice is telling us that he
is having trouble staying on top, he is unsure that he can hold his
possession and that he can not trust anyone but him self. He voice is like
a desperate person trying to beg for something that they need to survive
and are not afraid of the consequences of trying to get it, he also sound
like he is used to being a top dog and does not like the idea of losing that
space to anyone. Johns voice is very soft and gentle with a slight
underlying of leadership in his tone, he seems very determined when he
confronts the villain to his dissensions not to had something to him so
this also leads me to understand that he has no trouble double thoughts,
he knew what he wanted to do in that situation and did not let them get
in the way.

Words

There are some key words that are used in the extract which help with
are understanding of the situation, such as the words- fallen world from
this we can determine that it in no longer in the charge of the human
race, missile cord this seems to be of great importance to the story and
the villain seems to be the one who needs it.

MUSIC AND SILENCE.

Music

There is music in the background when the narrator is talking, is has a

tempo that seems to go up and down and is quit hurried, this I believe
reflects on the show and the mood and emotions of the people that are in
it, the music is there to help us to get in to the emotional state that is
needed to listen to the rest of it. The same tune is played throughout the
clip and is very repetitive in its notes and beats.

Silence

There is not many breaks of silence I believe that this is due to the fact
that it is meant to be a very fast moving. The narrator is the only one
who seems to take a small break but that is just to catch his breath in
between lines for a bit of a dramatic effect for his words. Help to make
them stick in more.

OPEN SEASON

SETTING AND CHARACTERIZATION

Setting

He starts to describe the place that he comes from. I believe that it is set
in a small town of some description, they are by Vermont. There is a river
that used to power the factory's but that has now gone. Barrel burl is
where this is set.

Characterization

The main character is definitely made out to sound like a very strong
manly, man. Definitely knows what he wants in life. He is a lotenant, for
the local PD, his name is Jo Gunther,

Speech

Words

He has a very thick heavy voice. He is American and seems to be a

deputy or sheriff of some sort in the town where he resides. He sounds
like a very confident chatty man who knows exactly what he need to say
and does not sound as if he needs to think over what he is about to say
next.

He uses a few words that lead us to suspect that something is about to

happen, when he is talking about the sorts of things that happen where
he lives and works, the different crimes that he comes across but then he
says some words that change are perception of the town. The words
until I got the call the words start to chill are bones I find, because he
had been describing a town and all of its fetchers you believe it to be a
very sweet very low crime rate town, but from them 5 words we can now
make the judgment that the town is not what it seems and is not as safe
as people may think it is, any more.

MUSIC AND SILENCE.

Music

At the start of the pod cast there is a song that is being played, the beat
make me thing of detectives, or mystery, the beat makes it sound like
doors or positions are being opened up to look for clues. Like some one
tip toeing around while they commit the act. The tune becomes very
edgy at the end, silences are left between some of the beats for dramatic
effect.

A different quieter less detective sounding song plays when the man is
talking, it is used more as something to fill the background then for any
real effect, it makes him seem like he is telling a story.

Silence

At the start it is only small breaks for air that the man takes when he is
talking about the town and describing it.
The starting music has some breaks in it towards the end of the song for
dramatic effect.

We dont have many killings around here that was until tonight.
that is one on the sentences where the man takes a longer then usual
break to add effect to his words.

CONFESSION

SETTING AND CHARACTERIZATION

Setting

At the start is seems as though he is in a place that is hurting him, he

then takes us on a flash back he is driving along a road, trying to go as
fast as he can, it seems as though he is on a hill in a densely vegetated
area. As he is driving up a car is coming down that he does not seem to
know about and then the next thing that we know he is flying through
the air over a forest and then seems to land in a big area of water.

Characterization

He comes across as a very daring and possibly silly man. Reckless even,
he seems as though he was in the wrong place at the wrong time. He
recklessness can caused him to be in this situation that he now finds
himself in.

SPEECH AND WORDS.

Speech

Very strong first impressions. He does not sound live someone who has
come from a posh area, he seems like a very bad un rulely man from the
way he talks.

Words

Hu uses some very strong describing words such as hurling, he was

hurling through the big black rain soaked forest. He is very descriptive
when he is talking about places and actions that he is doing, you are able
to see it coming to life in front of your eyes.

MUSIC AND SILENCE

Music

Heavy use of music at part way through the start the mans explain to us
how this first started. Some of the first things that can be heard is a
thundercloud, a car of some description, and then the loud music that he
is playing in his car, all of these sounds so far are diegetic sounds as the
man would have been able to hear them, thus abiding to the fact that he
is supposed to be having a flash back.

Silence

The diegetic sounds that are going on when he is re telling his story
suddenly stop and we are left with a very sudden silence. This is
dramatic because the next words he says lead us to believe that his
dangerous behaviour that he had been talking about before has cost him
something important even his life, are theory's are proven correct after
we here them.

BLUE JAM

SETTING AND CHARACTERIZATION

Setting

I believe that it is either sat in another world where people are able to
walk through windows or it is are world but in the future. This is a world
that does not seem like are own, different attitudes towards things have
been adopted by them compared to us.

Characterization

The first person who we are introduced to, who is the main character
seems to be a sufferer of deprecation, when we first hear him he seems
to have just taken some anti depressants but a higher dosage then he is
use to so it sound like he is high, also the words that he uses and the fact
that we are told he is laying on the floor also leads us to that thought.

Speech

Words

The man that Is talking at the start seems like a very confident man, he
does not stutter or add in silences where he might have needed to look
at his lines, he talks as though the words are just rolling out of his head
via his tongue.

I think that some words have been made up for the use of the radio
drama, or certainly words that we dont hear so much these days may
also have been used, after trying to listen to the drama I was left
confused as I was unable to work out what they were trying to say. That
is at the start of the production but when the main character is talking it
sound like he might be high by the way he is describing things and
acting.

MUSIC AND SILENCE

Music

The music that is used as a backing track has a very heavy beat. It has a
very futuristic feel to the music that would leave me to believe that that
is one of the styles of this radio drama.

Silence

In the case of this radio drama silence is used to for dramatic effect, the
drama seems to be slightly gory and also futuristic, a lot of words that I
do not know are used in this, so the words plus the silences lead us to a
very scary feeling that we believe something bad is about to happen.
