Students should be
able to identify the
stages of their plant
or animals lifecycle

Students will gain an
understanding of the
relevance their topics
lifecycle has to the
real world

Students will begin to
record observations
of living things as they
develop through their
life cycle.

Diagnostic

The lesson will commence with students seated at

their desks
Students will be given a piece of card with either an
image of a chicken, frog, butterfly or sunflower on it.
They will then be asked to move around the
classroom and form a group with peers who received
the same image. These groups are to be seated at a
desk together
The teacher will inform students of the long term
goals, purpose, and outcomes of this assignment:
! Group research on designated topic
! Gather information using various ICT tools and
technologies
! Identify the stages of their topics lifecycle
! Produce a journal with all information and
resources gathered over the program using Book
Creator

Students will then be asked to log onto their existing
spiderscribe account and brainstorm, as a group,
what they already know about their topics lifecycle.
Students are to allocate tasks to each group member,
ensuring the roles are shared evenly.
The teacher is to create a google.doc documents for
these roles to recorded on. Students are to update
this document when certain tasks are completed.

Do you know
any other living
things which go
through a
similar
lifecycle?

and/or

Students will then be given 15 minutes to begin their

research task.
