SCIENCE
Balance
and
Weighing

We will begin a unit on Balance and Weighing this week.


Students will learn about balance and how to use an equal
arm balance to weigh various
items. We will read about a
famous man who walked on a
tight rope and another famous
artist who created a incredible
design that is displayed in the
Smithsonian Museum. Students will work with partners as
we complete activities using the
equal arm balance over the next

*Read 20 minutes each night


and complete one page
in Math HW packet.
Monday-Read weekly story.
Wednesday-Study Vocabulary
words/cards.
Thursday-Study for Reading
weekly test and complete Spelling Practice Test.

Chapter 6
3-Digit Addition and
Subtraction

We continue Chapter 6 this week. Students will use the break apart strategy for 3
-digit addition and record 3-digit addition
using the standard algorithm with possible
regrouping of ones and tens.
NOTE: We will continue taking timed SUBTRACTION fluency tests on Tuesday each
week. Let me know if you would like to
check out subtraction flashcards.

Dear Parents,
We have had a great start back to
school after the break. I hope that
everyone is rested after the Monday
off and ready to go. Please continue to
encourage your child to come to school
prepared and always do their best each
and every day. We still have a great deal to cover between now and
May! Thank you for all of your support and for always being so gracious in sending in items that we need for our school activities.
