Course'Description'
'

This%is%the%continuing%History%of%the%United%States,%a%survey%course%that%ranges%from%
the%colonial%period%to%the%twenty%first%century.%The%Spring%Semester%will%begin%with%
the%United%States%Imperialism.%The%purpose%of%the%course%is%to%involve%students%in%
the%study%of%the%economic,%political,%cultural,%and%environmental%development%of%the%
United%States%so%that%they%are%better%able%to%understand%their%place%in%the%unfolding%
of%this%countrys%history.%This%course%puts%an%emphasis%on%writing%and%establishes%a%
commitment%to%primary%materials.%

NetClassroom%to%check%on%grades.%

Cell% phones% and% other% portable% communication% devices% may% be% used% at% Salpointe% Catholic% High%
School.%These%devices%are%permitted%to%be%used%on%campus%in%an%appropriate%manner.%Salpointe%does%
not% provide% technical% support% for% and% accepts% no% liability% for% loss% or% damage% to% electronic% devices.%
They%may%be%used%in%a%classroom%for%educational%purposes%only,%and%only%when%the%teacher%asks%the%
students% to% take% out% and% use% their% device.% Otherwise,% they% are% to% remain% on% silent% and% out% of% view%
from% the% time% a% student% enters% until% they% exit% the% classroom.% Students% excused% from% class% to% use%
restroom%must%leave%phone%on%their%desk.%Parents:%Please%do%not%text%students%between%8:00%a.m.%and%
3:00%p.m.%Suspicion%of%inappropriate%use%will%be%reported%to%the%Deans%Office.%%

Cheating/Plagiarism'(Student/Parent'Handbook'pgs.'26S27)'
Plagiarism%is%a%serious%form%of%cheating.%Plagiarism%includes%presenting%as%ones%own%work,%the%ideas,%
words,%or%any%created%product%from%another%person%or%source.%A%student%will%be%considered%guilty%of%
plagiarism%if%he/she%copies%someone%else's%paper,%project%or%ideas%without%properly%acknowledging%
the%source%when%appropriate.%Taking%a%photo%of%same%with%intent%to%commit%fraud%is%also%plagiarism.%%
Dishonest%scholastic%work%is%a%serious%violation%of%the%Salpointe%Code%of%Conduct.%Students%are%fully%
responsible% for% the% content% and% integrity% of% all% academic% work% submitted% as% homework,%
examinations,%projects,%research%papers,%etc.%Texting%exams%or%exam%answers%is%illegal%and%subject%to%
consequences% below.% Dishonest% work% is% not% limited% to% the% act% of% cheating% alone,% but% also% includes%
unacceptable%behavior%during%an%exam%as%defined%by%each%teacher's%predetermined%guidelines.%
