What Will the Students Learn?


Summary
Students will apply relationship and social skills as they participate in a variety of partner and small-group tasks.
Students will actively participate in a variety of net/wall-themed activities while identifying environmental safety risks.
Students will demonstrate the ability to apply strategies related to sending objects, preparing to receive objects and moving
within boundaries, while participating in a variety of net/wall activities.

How can I demonstrate relationship and social skills?
Can I identify environmental factors that pose safety risks during participation?
How can I strategically send and receive different objects against a wall or over a line within a boundary so I can be successful in a
variety of net/wall activities?

How Will I Know What the Students Have Learned?


Assessment of Learning
Students will demonstrate the ability to apply strategies related to sending objects, preparing to receive objects and moving
within boundaries while participating in a variety of net/wall activities.
Students will actively participate in a variety of net/wall-themed activities while identifying environmental safety risks.
Students will apply relationship and social skills while participating in a variety of partner and small-group tasks.
Assessment for Learning
Throughout the unit, students will be monitored using a variety of assessment strategies and tools. Ongoing observational
assessments will be made in the form of anecdotal records, checklists and rubrics and students will be given descriptive feedback
to further develop the tactical skills of net/wall games at a primary level. They will use self-assessment and peer assessment to
further their learning.

Lesson 1: Introduction to Four Square: Moving in Bounds
By the end of this lesson, students will be able to:
identify safety risks and cooperate effectively while actively participating in a variety of simple outdoor net/wall activities
send and receive objects over a line and within a boundary.
