Dear Governor Dayton,
Thank you for your letter yesterday in response to my letter asking you to appear before
the House State Government Finance Committee. As I stated, many Minnesotans have
expressed concerns over your commissioners’ pay raises and this would be a chance for the
Legislature and public to better understand your reasoning.
To that end, your suggestion that you host a meeting with you, other legislators and
members of the press overlooks one of the main points of contention: the public has been
excluded thus far.
[renew my offer and ask you to appear during either the February 12th or February 17th
public hearing. Both of these meetings are scheduled at 8:15 am in Room 200 of the State
Office Building.
In your initial letter, you wrote
Since | alone made these decisions, itis only appropriate to direct questions about
them to me.
When [asked one of your commissioners this morning in committee how the pay raises
will be accounted for in the budget, he told me to get my answer from you.
We are planning to have hearings on this for the public to provide input. While we would
hope you would make yourself available to the public to answer their questions in
