cropland, grazing land, forest and fishing grounds

required to produce the food, fibre and timber it
consumes, to absorb the wastes emitted when it uses
energy and to provide space for infrastructure. (from

What does this suggest about the ESD of the oil industry?

River Runs Red

This song was written by the Australian rock band Midnight Oil in response to the Exxon
Valdez disaster. They performed it in an illegal concert outside of the Exxon
headquarters in New York. This video clip was made after that event. Perform a SWOT
analysis to assess whether this band should have broken the law of the city of New York
to raise awareness of the Exxon Valdez disaster.

So you cut all the tall trees down,
You poisoned the sky and the sea
Youve taken what's good from the ground
But you've left precious little for me
You remember the flood and the fall,
We remember the light on the hill
There should be enough for us all,
But the dollar is driving us still
River runs red, black rain falls, dust in my hand
River runs red, black rain falls, on my bleeding land
So we came and we conquered and found

What would happen if a disaster were to happen

that removed our civilisation?

What would happen if a disaster were to remove our

civilisation?
How could we communicate that an area was off-

limits to future generations?

How do we communicate that nuclear waste facilities

or radioactive areas are off-limits to future

generations 10,000 years into the future?
Just think: 10,000 years in to the past puts us into

pre-history, before the Ancient Egyptians, Sumerians

and Chinese. Think how much the world has changed

What would happen if a disaster were to remove our civilisation?

What does inter-generational equity REALLY mean?
Intergenerational equity is a concept that says that humans 'hold the

natural and cultural environment of the Earth in common both with

other members of the present generation and with other
generations, past and future' (Weiss, 1990, p. 8). It means that we
inherit the Earth from previous generations and have an obligation
to pass it on in reasonable condition to future generations.
