Guinea pigs,the chirpy animal of south America, is still found in the

wild.

They belong to a group of mammal( rodents) which dont have a


visible tail, and have four toes on each anterior foot and also have
three toes on each rear foot.
These incredibly fluffy animals live in large groups, in long grasses
and manoeuvre burrows disowned by other creatures.Guinea pigs
are herbivores, which only eat grasses, veggies and fruit.
Unlike other rodents,the mother guinea pig gives birth in the open
wild. The guinea pigs are born with there eyes open with fully
grown hair. They have a great deal of predators and also tend to be
shy animals and can be easily frightened by infinitesimal
movement and noise, and can live up to 8-10 years.

Guinea pigs were also known as cavies in the 1600( as they make
screeching noises like a pig), and they were traded by british
boatmen in trade of a guinea, and old English coin.
Can you believe that their are more than 25 different kinds of
guinea pigs ?! The most ordinary type of guinea pigs are the short
haired ones. Their fur is short, plain and bright. The long haired ones
whose smooth hair reaches the ground!! as well the ruffed hair
ones whose hair curls round in rosette framework all over the body
plus head. Each diversity of 1 or many colours.
Guinea pigs make acceptable pet for kids, as they can live indoors
and outdoors and they are not nocturnal like hamsters.
They become used to grooming, occasionally biting. In a nutshell, you
should also remember that they appreciated in groups and they
also will live happily with rabbits!
