SurveyMonkey Goals Assignment

Essential Questions (What essential question or learning are you addressing? What would students care or
want to know about the topic? What are some questions to get students thinking about the topic or generate
interest about the topic? What questions can you ask students to help them focus on important aspects of the
topic? What background or prior knowledge will you expect students to bring to this topic and build on?)
Essential Question(s) and your thoughts on the above questions:
Following a Goals writing assignment I would add a SurveyMonkey project for my students to be able to expand
their knowledge by quizzing their peers? With a solid survey students could gain more insight into their own
Goals. The survey itself is a way to ask some questions to get students thinking about the topic. I would demo a
couple of surveys that I created and cover a prior assignment. SurveyMonkey is a user-friendly tool and prior
experience in Poll Everywhere and Google Forms will help them.
Standards (What do you want students to know and be able to do in relation to the essential question or essential
learning? What knowledge, skills, and strategies do you expect students to gain? Are there connections to other
curriculum areas and subject area benchmarks? )
Your statement about what students should know and be able to do. (Be sure it related to your essential
question/learning.):

SurveyMonkey will be used to help my students strengthen their goals presentation. By creating their surveys
they can gain insight to their own goals by soliciting peer feedback. My students will use the surveys to strengthen
their 21st Century skills needed to select, evaluate, and use information appropriately and eectively. Using
technology students will learn to use another tool to collect information from peers and teachers. They will also be
able to use this in other classes.

Content Standards (Pick the main ones rather than giving a laundry list of all possible standards.):

Inquire, think critically, and gain knowledge.

NETS*S Standards (Pick the main ones rather than including the whole list.):

Improving higher-order thinking skills, such as problem solving, critical thinking and
creativity
Designing student-centered, project-based and online learning environments
Overview or Project Sketch (Give a short summary of the lesson or unit including assignment or expected or
possible products. Consider whether the learning outcomes will warrant all the steps and work. This is a good
time to get feedback on your ideas.)
Students will use SurveyMonkey as a tool to gather peer insight to strengthen their Goals Prezi Presentation. I will
demo the use of SurveyMonkey after students complete 2 surveys created by me. Students will be required to use
5 different questions types for a total of 10 questions. True and False questions are not an option for my students
(Opened ended questions, multiple choice, multiple option and other question options which require more thought
from their peers will be required). The questions they ask will be used to improve their own goal topics which
include: 1) Academic/Career 2) Athletic & Personal Health and Fitness 3) Activities & Clubs (To promote fellowship)
4) Character ( Students will focus on 2 of the 6 Traits from Character Counts)

Assessment (What will students do or produce to illustrate their learning? What can students do to generate new
knowledge? How will you assess how students are progressing (formative assessment)? How will you assess
what they produce or do? Who will be the audience for a digital product or presentation? How will you differentiate
products/outcomes?)
Students will be graded on their Survey and the feedback they will give to other students after they complete all
peer surveys (using Edmodo as a link to the surveys and also for peer commenting). I have a Google Forms Rubric
that I will modify to work for this assignment. I also have a peer commenting etiquette rubric, which will be used for
the replies.
Audience will be the entire class and myself. Using Edmodo to link and share, all will complete surveys.
For my students who require accommodations they will be met my whatever means is needed. Creating
collaborative groups for creating these surveys is a great way to differentiate this assignment.
Resources (Has technology had any impact on the content area(s) related to the essential question(s)? Does the
essential question suggest a final product that is part or all digital? Does the question(s) suggest a task or tasks
where technology tools are used to gather, analyze, organize information or data? How does technology support
student learning? What digital tools, and resourcesonline student tools, research sites, student handouts, tools,
tutorials, templates, assessment rubrics, etchelp elucidate or explain the content or allow students to interact
with the content? What previous technology skills should students have to complete this project?)

My classroom is a computer lab is a perfect medium for this digital assignment. Technology is used to create,
analyze and organize the data and surveys. Students will use the Web tools of Moodle, SurveyMonkey, &
Edmodo in the process of this assignments. Following this they will use Prezi to make use of the data collected
as they strengthen their goals topics.
Instructions and rubrics will be found on the class Moodle page.
Previous use of Polls Everywhere and Google Forms will help students in the creation and use of SurveyMonkey.!

Instructional Plan
Preparation (What student needs, interests, and prior learning provide a foundation for this lesson? How
can you find out if students have this foundation? What difficulties might students have?)
The previous Goals writing assignment is the ground work for this assignment, which will lead up to a
presentation assignment using Prezi. Students are well aware of the use of multiple Web tools as this class is
centered on their use and learning. Any difiiucultiies can be over came using the team assistance mentality the
we use in the Interactive Media classroom. (Students and Teacher are a team and as a team all are resources for
both teaching and learning)
Management (How and where will your students work? Classroom, lab, groups, etc?
Classroom is a computer lab. 25 student stations with Internet access. To accommodate some students can
work in support groups, or have support help from teacher, para, and/or peers.

Instruction and Activities (What instructional strategies will you use with this lesson? How will your
learning environment support these activities? What is your role? What are the students' roles in the
lesson? How can the technology support your teaching? What engaged and worthwhile learning activities
and tasks will your students complete? How will they build knowledge and skills? Will students be
expected to collaborate with each other and others? How will you facilitate the collaboration?)
I will demonstrate the options of SurveyMonkey and students will use Edmodo to access and complete my
surveys. I will be both teacher and student survey completer, as will all students. (Team mentality)
Technology is the basis for the entire assignment and class.
Completing all peer surveys and commenting will engage all students for multiple class periods.
By creating solid survey questions, collaboration will take place in the form of peer feedback. Team mentality and
teacher assistance will facilitate all needs.

Differentiation (How will you differentiate content and process to accommodate various learning styles
and abilities? How will you help students learn independently and with others? How will you provide
extensions and opportunities for enrichment? What assistive technologies will you need to provide?)
A concept of team is the first avenue to facilitate accommodations and other needs in a digital classroom. I also
use groups as a way to ensure all students have the help they need to complete these tasks. Creating solid
instructions and rubrics will help all students. This project is an extension of previous learning and will be used
aid in modifying their presentations.
Access and use of Moodle, Google Docs, Forms and Edmodo will be provided.

Closure and Reflection (Will there be a closing event? Will students be asked to reflect upon their work?
Will students be asked to provide feedback on the assignment itself? What will be your process for
answering the following questions?
Did students find the lesson meaningful and worth completing?
In what ways was this lesson effective?
What went well and why?
What did not go well and why?
How would you teach this lesson differently?)
Students will comment on their peers surveys.
Students could be asked to comment on their learning from completion of this project.
This project will help all students gain peer insight and they will use this to strengthen their understanding of their
goals.
As always I use my lesson planner to reflect daily as a tool to strengthen future assignments.
I will use PLC as a way to make this a better experience for my students.
