TYPES OF RESEARCH
There are many types of research, they include things such as: Websites, Reviews, Books,
Newspapers, interviews. Etc. The Purpose of research is to learn more and then this can
help a lot, for example with investments if you research the Stock market to see whats
rocketing in price.

QUANTITATIVE RESEARCH
The scientific definition of Quantitative Research is when you use Mathematical or
computational techniques to gain the data that you are looking for. The objective of
quantitative research is to develop and employ mathematical models, theories and
hypothesis to pertain phenomena.

In terms of marketing in small music companies: Quantitative research including

surveys and customer questionnaires can help small firms to improve their products
and services by enabling them to make informed decisions
Heres an example of a quantitative graph used for temperature change.

Another form of quantitative research would be progression over time, such as CD sales.

Heres an example of CD sales, what you would gain from your quantitative research is
that compared to 2005, the predicted CD sales will drop dramatically from 602.7m to
1.0m.

QUALITATIVE RESEARCH
The scientific definition of Qualitative Research is A method of inquiry employed in
many different academic disciplines, traditionally in the social sciences, but also in
market research and further contexts.

An example of qualitative research would be a song review. Such as the song Uptown
Funk Bruno Mars.

Another example of qualititative research would be a fanzine website with all the
information provided on them.
A fanzine website is a nonprofessional and nonofficial publication produced by fans of a
particular cultural phenomenon (such as a literary or musical genre)

One direction website is

a link to a certain genre

SECONDARY RESEARCH
(Also known as desk research) involves the summary, collation and/or synthesis of
existing research rather than primary research, where data is collected from, for example,
research subjects or experiments.
There are different ways you can complete secondary research, for example using books
in a library. Books for research really help a lot The Title Page gives publication
information such as complete title, names of all authors or editors, edition of the book,
name of the publisher and city of publication, and date of publication.
The Table of Contents appears at the front of a book and gives a list of the chapters or
sections in a book, usually with the corresponding page number. The table of contents
may give a general idea of the topics covered in the book as well as how the book is
arranged (e.g., chronologically or topically).
A List of Illustrations, which may appear at the front of a book, gives a list of
photographs, drawings, tables, or other types of illustrations used to support the contents
of the book, usually with corresponding page numbers.
A Preface, Forward, or Introduction may provide the reader with ideas about
the author's intention or purpose for writing the book, and may give an
indication of the depth of research presented.
A Bibliography is a list of materials related to a specific topic. The list may be
items that were used as sources for the work they accompany, or it may be a list
of additional materials on the topic. Bibliographies may be located at the ends of
chapters throughout the book, or at the end of the book.
The Index, which is usually located in the back of the book, is an alphabetical
list of the specific subjects in the book, along with the corresponding page
numbers. Indexes may provide names, dates, events, geographic locations, and
other detailed terms related to the contents of the book. Browsing an index is an
excellent way to identify exactly where in the book relevant information may be
located. An index can also provide subject terms and keywords that might be
useful for further research on a topic.

Another form of secondary research is using the internet

you can use Google Scholar to find e-journal articles,
material from institutional repositories and book chapters
from many different sources. The benefit of using Google
Scholar is that you can search for scholarly literature,
across disciplines and formats, from a single screen.
In addition to Library resources, Google Scholar can be a
good starting point for your research as it will give you an
overview of what published material exists on your topic.
And a third form of secondary research is using newspapers.
Newspapers can contain a wealth of
information. Not only can you search
for obituaries, marriage and birth
announcements, but you can also use
newspapers to learn what daily life was
like in the area. Newspapers are also
what linked folks together, especially
before there were telephones, so you
can even find social events such as who
was visiting, who was sick and just
generally who was doing what (both
good and bad)!

PRIMARY RESEARCH
The scientific definition of Observation is the active acquisition of information from a
primary source. In living beings, observation employs the senses. In science, observation
can also involve the recording of data via the use of instruments. The term may also refer
to any data collected during the scientific activity.

ADD A BIBLIOGRAPHY
On the References tab, in the Citations & Bibliography group, click Insert Citation for the
option to add sources and then place citations in the document.

When youve added all the citations you need for your report, on the References tab,
click Bibliography to insert a formatted bibliography in your choice of styles.
