Pulling out a pair of socks and wearing it over the slippers.

Picking eight
pieces of something green that looked like parsley. Taking a step. One, two, three
Oops! Uh-oh, mud. Pulling a feet up before taking another step. Umm, this would
take a lot of effort.
It was a fine day and the sun was smiling fiercely. He was pointing each of
his rays to every pore of the skins that were present in there. Some people are sure
to be in beaches enjoying the heat. Some, may be, are in their rooms savoring the
bliss of over sleeping. Its a weekend. A time to rest after a days work. A chance to
be lazy. But Social and Behavioral Sciences Department proved that theres more
than these.
Early in the morning of February 24, 2012, we headed to Brgy Punta Taytay
with the purpose of helping in saving the world even in our own little way. It was so
hot and I was thinking to myself, This is not Vitamin D anymore. Some seek refuge
on the shades generously shared by the trees. Oh, the wonder of nature. It always
offers a solution.
While others were putting their socks on for the purpose of protection from
any injury, I got the chance to take a look at the sea. It was a low tide. Thats why
the activity was scheduled early, to take advantage of the tide. It was mangrove
growing after all. Mangrove growing because it should not stop only in planting but
to make these trees grow.
Mangrove came from a Portuguese word mangue. There are at least 12
families and 70 species of mangroves. They are all halophytic or salt tolerant
species of tropical trees and shrubs.
In this activity, there were 1000 propagules of Rhizophora mucronata or
Bakhaw Babayi. The method that was used was he quadrant method wherein there
should be a distance of two meters from each propagule.
