(SAO situation, action, outcome)
S- Being part of a youth group, I am always
involved in various fundraising events. At these
events, I am constantly called upon to be the
MC.

Communication:
listening and understanding; sharing
information; understanding the needs of
customers, skills that contribute to productive
and harmonious relations between employees
and customers.

A- As an MC, one must be engaging and


humorous as well as interactive to get the
audience involved. I had to think on the spot
and continually make my speech comical and
appealing.
O- At the end of the event, I was acknowledged
and commended for making the event more
entertaining. Promises were even made by the
audience for future attendance.
S- I was nominated as one of the camp leaders
at my youth group camp and as a group we had
to make dinner and create certain activities for
all to enjoy.

Teamwork:
working as an individual and as a member of a
team; coaching, mentoring and giving feedback,
skills that contribute to effective execution of
tasks.

A- I allocated certain tasks to my team


members in order to make our duties more time
efficient as well taking on the harder roles so
that my team was not under stress.
O- We were able to pull off a great dinner and
the activities we came up was thoroughly
enjoyed by everyone.
S- During my photography course at school in
2012 I had to learn how to use Photoshop in
order to edit my photos for various
assignments.

Technology:
having a range of IT skills; being willing to learn
new IT skills, skills that contribute to effective
execution tasks.

A- I was able to learn how to use Photoshop to


manipulate my photos in order to make them
more appealing.
O- In my assignments, I was able to maintain
an A average across all boards and received
a letter of commendation for my work.

S- At one of my youth group events, the palm


cards for my speech were missing and I didnt
have any extras.
Problem Solving:
developing practical solutions; solving problems
in teams; resolving customer concerns, skills
that contribute to productive outcome.

A- I had to do on the spot improvisation in order


to keep the crowd engaged and the event
running smoothly.
O- Everyone loved it and the event was a
complete success.
S- Due to the subjects I have chosen, I have an
overload of homework, assignments and tests
to either be handed in or be studied for.

Self-Management:
taking responsibility; evaluating and monitoring
own performance; having personal vision and
goals, skills that contribute to employee
satisfaction and growth.

A- I forgo outings with my friends as well as a


few extra curricular activities after school or on
the weekends in order to ensure that Im well
prepared for most assessments.
O- I havent completely lagged behind in my
classes and am starting to get used to being
year eleven and its level of demand.
S- I found myself unable to concentrate on my
studies due to an unorganized desk.

Initiative and enterprise:


being creative; translating ideas into action;
adapting to new situations, skills that contribute
to innovate outcome.

A- I took it upon myself to clean up my desk


and organize my files.
O- I was then able to concentrate fully and
achieve a good score in a test the next day.

Planning and Organising:


managing time and priorities; collecting,
analysing and organising information, skills that
contribute to long-term and short-term strategic
planning.

S- Being in upper school is quite demanding


and needs one to maintain good time
management skills.
A- I have put into place a studying timetable
which dictates daily at what times I will study
each subject and for how long, including breaks
O- I am currently up to date with all my
subjects, including homework and notes.
S- Sometimes I find myself having a hard time
understanding specific physics concepts.

Learning:
being open to new ideas and techniques;
having enthusiasm for ongoing learning, skills
that contribute to ongoing improvement and
expansion in employee and company
operations and outcome.

A- Seeing this, I asked my parents for tuition


classes and started asking more question in
class in order to learn from my mistakes and
make sure they are never repeated.
O- Physics is now getting easier to understand
and my grades are slowly getting better.
