Introduction
Explain the Kantian arguments Denis Arnold and Norman Bowie use in Sweatshops and Respect for Persons to support
the claim that MNEs have duties to ensure that their off-shore contract factories meet minimum safety standards and
provide a living wage for employees. Explain Ian Maitlands argument that improving health and safety conditions and
improving wages will cause greater harm than good. With whom do you agree more? Explain.
In addition, because no job can ever be completely free from hazards, occupational safety requires a balancing of the
interests of employees and employers. Using appeals, the ethical theories that have been discussed in this chapter and
the class defend a position regarding how these competing interests should be balanced from a moral perspective.

Prepare a 1,200-1,500 word response in APA 6th ed. format. Your paper must include required readings and at least three
external references. Refer to the Writing Assignment Grading Criteria for assignment requirements in content,
organization, writing style, grammar and APA 6.0 format. Please name your assignment file as 'lastnamefirstinitialBUS623-6.
Submit your writing assignment by midnight EST, Day 7.
