Class Requirements for Reading Workshop

1. Read Books! (100 120 points, depending on the quarter)

a. You have most of class time every school day to readbut hopefully, you will
want to read at home, too!

grade will be at the end of the quarter. Everyone can earn an A in this
class!

do make exceptions, so talk to me if there is a book you want to read and it is
worth less than 4 points.
d. Books of 10 AR points or more could count as two books for your reading total
depending on your individual reading level. You need to have permission
from Mrs. Schumacher for this.
e. There are some books that will not count for this class as they do not
challenge your reading skills. These include: the Diary of a Wimpy Kid books,
Dork Diaries, and the I Survived series.
f. Nonfiction books must be at least 150 pages in length OR be approved by
Mrs. Schumacher or Mrs. Huettner.
g. Make sure you take the AR test over every AR book that you read
but all books for this class do not have to be AR books. You can read
pretty much anything you wantwithin reasonable expectations.

you have finished reading a book.
