ReflectiononPlanningRosaParkswasamonumentalfigureforAfricanAmerican
rightsandcivilrights.Iwantedtoportrayherandtheenormousdecisionshemade
withauthenticityandacceptability.Iknowananticipationguidewouldallowmeto
seewhattheyknowandtheirthoughtsandpredictions.Itwouldallowthemtogeta
previewoftheinformationandhelpthemthroughthelesson.Iwantedtousea
contentDRTAbecauseitkeepsthestudentsengagedandallowsthemtoseethe
predictionstheymadeandiftheycometruewithinthereading.Theywanttoknowif
theirrightsoitkeepshighengagementandexcitementthroughthelesson.The
writingpieceattheendgivesthemthereadingandwritingconnectiontohavedeeper
comprehensionandallowsnewlearningtotakeplace.Iwantedthemtobeableto
reflectonhowtheycouldbeactiveparticipantsintheirschoolandcommunityand
evenatayoungagecanmakeabigdifference.Iwantedthemtolearnaboutheroesin
