Duties, Accomplishments and Related Skills:
GIS: Collect field data using a Trimble GPS unit running ArcPad and enter data into
ArcGIS program. Create resource data within ArcGIS in support of other BLM
programs. Convert shapefiles and maps into KML files for Google Earth compatibility.
Create maps and manage geospatial data for range, forestry, realty, and recreation
programs.
RECREATION: Assist in monitoring Off-Highway Vehicle (OHV) race events on BLM
land including the Vegas to Reno OHV race. Assisted with trail building at Curtz Lake.
Perform public contact and collected use fees at BLM recreation fee sites.
RANGE: Assist with rebuilding the grazing allotment file system. Collect field data for
photo trend plots, transect plots, and soil stability.
FIRE: Assist the warehouse during wildland fire season which involves supply
inventory and shipping resources to fires. Transport supplies to and from fires in a
timely and safe manner. Assist Fire Information Officer with educating youth about fire
responsibility. Perform as Smokey the Bear in support of the fire education program.
Completed Nevada Interagency Wildland Firefighting Training and maintain a
Firefighter Type 2 qualification.
OTHER: Collect and enter field data into multiple software programs for various
resource programs. Designed, built, and implemented a welcome package to inform
and update new field office employees of current issues and management priorities. As
a team member, I assisted with the development and implementation of an illegal
dumping campaign for Northern Nevada. The campaign also included the development
of several public service announcements for airing on local cable television. As a team
member, I assisted with the development and implementation of an Adopt-a-Space
program that focuses on cleaning up trash on public lands.
