Third Field Day Visit: San Fernando West Secondary School

Dear Journal
Todays visit was motivating and inspiring. I realize that how a teacher starts the class in
terms of the set induction will determine the pace, engagement and the overall outcome of the
lesson. Teachers need to be constantly mindful that to engage students, they themselves must be
thoughtful and fully engaged in their set induction and lesson plan and not just involving some
of the students but all of the students. It is also vital that teachers take every opportunity to do
personal interaction and have them do a lot of group activities. It is quite apparent that students
enjoy and perform well when they are working in groups and are involved. They also enjoy the
interaction and attention from teachers.
Additionally, with programming lessons, as teachers we have to take it a piece at a time
with lots of activities to have the students understand and grasp the programming concept. This
gave me a new look on programming lessons and proper time management as it pertains to
teaching a lesson.
Very inspiring I look forward to my lesson at Cunupia.
