Passover

Passover is a Jewish festival commemorating the Exodus from Egypt. It referred

to the sacrifice of a lamb in Egypt when the Jewish people were slaves. The
Hebrews smeared the blood of a lamb on their door posts as a signal to the
death angel that God sent in hopes that the death angel would Passover their
homes when God destroyed the first born of Egypt to persuade Pharaoh to let
His people go!

Exodus 12:14
For I will pass through the land of Egypt this night, and will smite all
the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both man and beast; and against all
the gods of Egypt I will execute judgment: I am the LORD.
13
And the blood shall be to you for a token upon the houses where ye
are: and when I see the blood, I will pass over you, and the plague
shall not be upon you to destroy you, when I smite the land of Egypt.
14
And this day shall be unto you for a memorial; and ye shall keep it a
feast to the LORD throughout your generations; ye shall keep it a
feast by an ordinance for ever.

Passover commemorated the departure from Egypt in haste. Unleavened bread

was used in the celebration because it showed that they had no time to leaven
their bread.
Exodus 12:17
17And ye shall observe the feast of unleavened bread; for in this
selfsame day have I brought your armies out of the land of Egypt:
therefore shall ye observe this day in your generations by an
ordinance for ever.
Because of His sacrifice, Jesus became our Passover lamb; He is the bread of
life and the Hidden Manna! If any man eats of this bread of life, he shall live for
eternity!

II Corinthians 5:17
Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things
are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

In the New Testament it became a day of remembrance. Everything that had

happened was a type and shadow of the lamb that was slain, referring to Jesus,
the Lamb of God, Jesus was crucified on the Passover.

The Last Supper

Jesus and the twelve Apostles ate the Passover meal (the last supper) together
on the eve of His death. Like the blood of the lamb which saved the Hebrews
from destruction in Egypt, His blood was the Passover sacrifice that redeems us
from the power of sin and death!

Thank you JESUS!!!

Mark 14:12-25
And the first day of unleavened bread, when they killed the passover,
his disciples said unto him, Where wilt thou that we go and prepare
that thou mayest eat the passover?
13
And he sendeth forth two of his disciples, and saith unto them, Go ye
into the city, and there shall meet you a man bearing a pitcher of
water: follow him.
14
And wheresoever he shall go in, say ye to the goodman of the house,
The Master saith, Where is the guestchamber, where I shall eat the
passover with my disciples?
15
And he will shew you a large upper room furnished and prepared:
there make ready for us.
16
And his disciples went forth, and came into the city, and found as he
had said unto them: and they made ready the passover.

12

And in the evening he cometh with the twelve.

And as they sat and did eat, Jesus said, Verily I say unto you, One of
you which eateth with me shall betray me.
19
And they began to be sorrowful, and to say unto him one by one, Is it
I? and another said, Is it I?
20
And he answered and said unto them, It is one of the twelve, that
dippeth with me in the dish.
21
The Son of man indeed goeth, as it is written of him: but woe to that
man by whom the Son of man is betrayed! good were it for that man if
he had never been born.
22
And as they did eat, Jesus took bread, and blessed, and brake it, and
gave to them, and said, Take, eat: this is my body.
23
And he took the cup, and when he had given thanks, he gave it to
them: and they all drank of it.
24
And he said unto them, This is my blood of the new testament, which
is shed for many.
25
Verily I say unto you, I will drink no more of the fruit of the vine, until
that day that I drink it new in the kingdom of God.
