Karras
OVERVIEW
Katherine Karras is a Consultant in the Human Capital Federal Practice of Deloitte Consulting. Her
experience lies in instructional design and training, and communication design. She also supports
process improvement, re-design, and marketing campaign efforts. She has used this experience in
successful problem solving, process improvement, and team leadership reducing inefficiency and
redundancy while overcoming challenges through her strong interpersonal and communications skills.
She holds a certificate in eLearning and is currently pursuing a masters in Instructional Design and
Technology. She is Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt certified.

Consultant
Katherine R. Karras
communications lead, her responsibilities included the creation and execution of a communications
plan covering over 20 separate issues and over 300 communication items. In her role, Ms. Karras
worked with cross-functional stakeholders across the Postal Service to draft, coordinate, and
distribute communication items to employees, external regulators, customers, and the Executive
Leadership Team. Ms. Karras managed relationships across client departments and Deloitte project
teams. Ms. Karras created and lead the design of four e-learning courses covering the new Export
Monitoring policies and program changes for various audiences within the Postal Service.
United States Postal Service Workforce Optimization
Ms. Karras supported the Deloitte team as a communications writer and consultant supporting the
Human Resources department. Her responsibilities included drafting internal employee
communications, managing project dashboards and metrics, creating innovative material for highlevel briefings and trainings, general editing, and writing. Her role also included PMO support and
Project Plan management.
Paragon Technology Group, Inc., Vienna, VA
Marketing/Communications Manager
Ms. Karras managed all corporate marketing and communications functions, overseeing multiple
teams. She was responsible for direct brand management, PR, media relations, corporate
positioning, advertising, sales collateral and tradeshow marketing. She structured, developed and
launched the companys service-offering catalog and managed marketing campaigns that propelled
revenues from $25M (2009) to $42M (2011). She performed ongoing customer/market research to
identify and capitalize on unmet market needs ahead of the curve. Her responsibilities also included
the development and editing of several industry nominations and submissions resulting in over 7
awards for the company and its leadership. She worked and designed a new company brand to
include marketing presentations and brochure templates and updated and improved company
marketing material and corporate capability presentations to enhance customer
knowledge/awareness of service-offerings as well as edited and assisted in a new website design to
better communicate/market core capabilities. She also developed and implemented the use of CRM
software within the Business Development team to monitor client communication and represented
the company at many industry and government events leading to multiple, long-lasting client
relationships. Other responsibilities included training new Business Development team members on
proposal process and leading CRM training sessions.
Business Development Manager
Ms. Karras oversaw production of more than 25 proposals, including management of staff and
resources, conflict mitigation and overlapping deadlines. She managed company proposals from
start to end including developing the team, identifying proposal resources, development of
compliance checklists, editing and formatting content, graphic building, production, and delivery.
This included facilitating and preparing documents for pink, red, gold, and white glove review
meetings. She also reviewed, assessed and directed process improvements in the bid and proposal
process for the company and led the CMMI Level II implementation effort for business development
and marketing. Ms. Karras also managed Paragons accounts with the U.S. Navy, and the
Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), Department of Homeland Security, Department
of Justice, Department of the Treasury, and Department of Agriculture. She also managed partner
relationships with more than 20 companies including Fortune 100 companies and scheduled
meetings with top government clients including HHS Chief Information Officer (CIO), Navy CIO,
Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) Special Programs, National Institutes of Health
(NIH) CIO, NIH Deputy CIO. As part of her responsibilities, she also redesigned and restructured
the company SharePoint site.

Ms. Karras provided guidance, framework, approach and mentorship on business development
process and communications/marketing design and strategy for the Federal IT start-up company.
She also edited all professional proposal material and developed templates for new
marketing/communications material. She assisted in the application for GSA Schedule and provided
training in the use of online opportunity databases.

Business Development Associate
Ms. Karras generated leads for more than five clients through personal and company marketing
techniques. She scheduled hundreds of appointments with senior-level executives in Fortune 500
companies and managed prospects and clients using three different CRM software programs. She used
troubleshooting skills to overcome prospect objections while promoting positive communication. She
also performed market analyses for new products and presented findings to firm executives. She also
assisted in developing and implementing internal and external training including a Buddy and
shadowing program for all new-hires.

Human Resources Intern

Coventry City Council is the local Government for the Town of Coventry, UK. The Human Resources
Training and Development Team provides learning and development programs for all Coventry City
employees. The team also leads a variety of staff training sessions including a monthly corporate
induction. Ms. Karras was commended for providing a fresh, innovative, and international approach to
training ideas and valuable solutions to training issues. She assisted in developing, writing and editing
material for three major training sessions. Ms. Karras also conducted on-site preparation for the
monthly corporate induction of more than 50 new employees.
