The 25 Line Crucible


Purpose: A play is meant to be seen, not just read! So were going to be doing just
that. With your group mates, you are going to create and perform your own versions
of Arthur Millers The Cruciblewith a twist.

Assignment:
You and your group will work together to determine what 25 lines are the most
important to the Act you have been assigned. This means that you must choose the
characters and lines that best represent the Act. Note: Every time a character
speaks, this will be counted as a line. You must write a new script, and then perform
your new version of The Crucible for your classmates.

Requirements:
Performance:
Every actor must speak and act
There can be no more than 25 lines
Lines must be used thoughtfully
Enthusiasm
Polite audience
Turn in:
One transcript per group of the lines your group has used
Individually written, two paragraph reflection on why your group made the
choices it did- Why did you choose the setting you did? How did you decide
what lines to use?
Self-evaluation

Make this your own! You can twist your skit to fit a new, modern time, or even put it
in space! Youre encouraged to bring or create your own props. Remember, acting
should be fun.

Performance (25pts) :

Your play has no more than 25 lines (5pts).


o If your group uses less than 25 lines, you must explain why you chose
to do so in your individual reflections.
