Carr, Nicholas G. The Shallows: What the Internet Is Doing to Our Brains. New York: W.W.
Norton, 2010. Print. This source shows the way that technology is being used and the way
that it is affecting the way we work and think. The use of technology is now being widely
adopted and without it a person without it would be behind. This source argues the use of
technology is necessary but the line of necessary and using it for the wrong reasons. I will
use this source to show the way people need to change the way we live to adapt to
technology. It will also be used to show that adoption of technology can be controlled and
used for the proper reasons with proper training.
"Computer or Internet Addiction." Computer or Internet Addiction. University of California, n.d.
Web. 26 Feb. 2015. This source shows the signs of problematic computer use to help
people realize if they have a problem. This also shows facts and myths about computers
and online addictions which promote the healthy way to use computers. Includes is also a
quiz to help someone realize, how to feel better, and how to recognize and help a friend
with internet addiction. I have used this source in my research to have people know when
they have a problem and how to help. I can also include part of this in a presentation to
reach a broad audience of people who might be suffering without even realizing.

students. It provides strategies that can help someone suffering from internet addiction
overcome it. It gives examples of popular internet activities for college students so they
will know that they are not alone in the web activities they do. This website wants to help
students live a healthier life with the internet. I can use this source to show people how to
recognize and recover from internet addiction in a presentation to peers.
"Daily Media Use Among Children and Teens Up Dramatically From Five Years Ago." Daily
Media Use Among Children and Teens Up Dramatically From Five Years Ago. Kaiser
Family, 20 Jan. 2010. Web. 26 Feb. 2015. This source shows the increasing access that
children have to technology and the increasing amount of time that they are spending on
the internet. People multi-task on media and in 7 hours on the web, they spend 10 hours on
media. Media time is increasing, but people are not educated on how to use it properly
with the amount of time being used. I could use this source to show the way the world is
changing but is not adapting properly.
"Internet 101: How Is the Internet Used?" GCFLearnFree.org. N.p., n.d. Web. 22 Feb 2015. This
source shows how the internet is being used such as blogs, social networking, and media
consumption. This shows the laziness that the internet is causing by doing a simple google
search and clicking a link rather than looking to see the truth. It is doing good, however by
increasing communications systems over long distances. I could use this source to show
the ways the internet is used. It could also be used to make people realize that their internet
usage patterns are not healthy and should be changed.
"Netflix Declares Binge Watching Is the New Normal." PRNewswire. PR Newswire, 13 Dec.
2013. Web. 26 Jan. 2015. This source shows that 73% of Netflix users binge watch and
feel no shame in it. As binge watching is becoming normal, people do not feel bad about it

because everyone is doing it. The increasing use of streaming services over conventional
TV is creating it easier and more common to watch TV and keep on watching. I can use
this source to show the way that people are spending their time on the internet is changing.
This source can also be used to show the commonality of more time being wasted with
everyone.
"Our Mission: Provide Unmatched Healthcare Experiences." Internet Addiction. N.p., n.d. Web.
18 Jan 2015. This source provides the definition of internet addiction with warning signs
or symptoms of internet addiction. It provides ways for people to get help by finding a
support system to limit your usage of the internet. It also provides the effects that internet
addiction has on a persons life and how they suffer. I can use this source to show how a
persons life is affected by internet addiction and the ways they got addicted to the internet.
I can also use it to encourage people to get help if they notice any of the symptoms of
internet addiction.
Srinivasan, Venkat. "Internet Addiction: Real or Virtual Reality? | MIND Guest Blog, Scientific
American Blog Network." Scientific American Global RSS. Scientific American, 15 May
2014. Web. 26 Jan 2015. This source discusses if internet addiction is real or just a byproduct of increased communication and media systems. This shows the way internet
addiction has changed from when it was first becoming realized in 1995 to today. It
discusses symptoms of internet addiction and ways to try to limit usage on the internet. It
discusses how internet addiction is difficult to diagnose because it is different in every
person. This source can be used to show how internet addiction is increasing but it is
different in everyone, showing that some people may show the signs of internet addiction

even if they are perfectly normal. I could also use this source to show the consequences of
internet overuse to the symptoms.
