Instructional Objectives: (Not outcomes, but lesson objectives. Not a description of

lesson procedure, but an indication of what students will know or be able to do by the
end of the lesson).
Knowledge:
Identify how they use the Internet
Understand that everything they do on the Internet effects how people view them
(friends, potential employers)
Identify ways that they can act responsibly and irresponsibly on the Internet
Skill:
How to make a digital tattoo
Typing on the computer
Creating a collage of symbols and text
Key Questions:
What is the focus question for this lesson? What are some related questions?
How will you ensure that you will never regret the details that make up your digital
tattoo?
Materials:
30 pieces of blank white paper
Pencil Crayons
Black fine tipped markers/ pens
Preparation:
Create exemplar to show the class.
Adaptations:
While students are working, I will help the students who struggle with writing to brain
storm ideas for their comment boxes and write them down so that they will just have their
tattoo to draw and fill in for homework

Lesson Procedure:
(Use numbered or bulleted steps. Indicate lesson introduction, development and
conclusion if that helps clarify the flow of the lesson. Write it with enough detail that a
substitute teacher could teach the lesson.)
1. Define a digital tattoo to the class (and the significance behind the title)
2. Think, pair, share What do you use on the Internet? What is an example of a
responsible and an irresponsible way of using the internet? How does your digital
presence affect yourself and the people the come into contact with you through
technology?
3. Identify what the task is for students
a. On a blank piece of paper, draw a basic outline of a tattoo that is
something you are interested in (game controller, animal, planet, shape)
b. Outline the tattoo in a black permanent marker.
c. Use symbols and words to fill in your tattoo with the online activities and
websites you engage in (ie Facebook, twitter, instagram, snap chat, msn,
Google)
d. Write a brief description of your top 5 online activities and how you use
them responsibly. Describe how you will ensure that you will never regret
the details that make up your digital tattoo.
4. Go over an exemplar and create a rubric with the class. (Ensure you have general
aspects that must go into the rubric.)
5. Students will have the rest of the class to complete their digital tattoo. What they
do not complete in class will be for homework.

Assessment:
How will you know if students met your lesson objectives? What are you looking for in
this formative assessment?
Think, Pair, Share: This will allow me to see what the students already know about their
current digital footprint. This will also allow students to brainstorm ideas as a group
before they complete the assignment.
Lesson Reflection:
This is a space for notes after youve taught the lesson.
