Please accept this letter as a reference for employment in the Dallas Independent School
district for Colleen Farrisee.
I first met Colleen when she was volunteering in my daughters classroom at Kramer
Elementary. (I have twin girls and a son in the DISD.) The girls could not stop talking about how
much they enjoyed Colleen being in their classroom. After a short time, I asked Colleen if she
could provide after-school care for my three children.
My family found Colleen to be a true gem. She always greeted my kids with a smile and was
genuinely happy to spend time with them. Colleen has an enormous amount of patience and has
a terrific ability to juggle multiple tasks at one time, staying calm and in control. Organization is
one of her strengths in my opinion.
From approximately January of 2014 to May of 2014, Colleen worked with our family, managing
after school activities for my two 3rd graders and 5th grader, and tutoring/helping them with
homework as needed. My husband and I found Colleen related very well to children and was
able to keep our kids on task and motivated (even when we were not able to make that
happen)!
We appreciated Colleens work ethic and dependability. She never missed a day with us! We,
and our children, liked Colleen so much, we asked her to work with us again last fall, from
August/September to December of 2014. Again, she was reliable, organized, helpful and positive
in her attitude. We could not have asked for more.
I would strongly encourage the DISD to hire Colleen in a teaching position. Our district needs
top of their class hires with a great outlook and a strong set of skills to shape instruction in
our classrooms. Colleen fits this profile and will exceed expectations, given the opportunity.
