SB 439, if passed, will allow certain transportation companies, posing as technology companies, to operate in Nevada without maintaining safety and insurance standards that protect passengers. Nevada’s laws do not stifle competition or prohibit the use of technology but instead ensure that: © thorough background checks are done on employee drivers individuals with disabilities are provided access to transportation services vehicles are inspected daily before being put on the road all commercial vehicles have comprehensive, commercial liability insurance passengers are not subject to price gouging SB 439 allows TNC’s: to conduet only cursory background checks of non-employee drivers © to transport passengers in vehicles which are not inspected, maintained or insured consistent with commercial carrier standards © exemption from the imposition of fees and taxes by local jurisdictions © to refuse transportation services to the disabled © to impose predatory pricing standards The passage of SB 439 will: © not create jobs impose financial and operational costs to the State (Public Utilities Commission) © jeopardize the safety of the traveling public Transportation Network Companies can operate in Nevada under the existing laws, they simply choose not to because they don’t want to pay the costs of providing safe and reliable transportation and they do not want to be subject to a licensing background investigation, TNC’s aren’t good for Nevada. Please vote NO on SB 439 and keep Nevada’s roadways safe! Respectfully, jason ASAwad, Esq. Owner of Lucky Cab/Lucky Limo
