ASSESSMENT/EVIDENCE OF STUDENT LEARNING:
How will I know that the learning outcomes are being achieved?
All learning outcomes will be assessed by homework, questioning, observing students answers and observing
student participation. Students will also complete questions where they are asked to calculate Compensation.
Students will also be asked to fill out an Insurance Claim form.

PRIOR KNOWLEDGE:
What prior knowledge do students have about this topic?
Students prior knowledge should consist of information from previous chapters covered from the textbook,
Business 1 2 3. Students are aware of the topic from the previous lesson and I have a good idea of the
understanding they have on the topic. Students may also be aware of the subject from home life, where they
may have seen advertisements for Insurance on the television, they may be aware of the concept from their

parents paying for Insurance or perhaps from parents filling out a claim form. Students will be familiar with
sums and calculations from their Maths class and the previous business lesson.

DIFFERENTIATION:
How will I differentiate the content knowledge of this lesson so as to include all learners in a mixed
ability class?
I will teach to satisfy all abilities in the class. I will have extra work prepared for students who finish
sooner than others which will further their understanding of the topic. I will include a variety of teaching
techniques to suit all learning preferences; (Reading, Writing, Listening, Talking..) I will assist students
when required, specifically those who have difficulties with maths.
Students must know what Insurance is and why it is used and why it is important.
Students should have some knowledge of Insurance Premiums from the previous lesson.
Students may know the 5 Principles of Insurance.
