April 21, 2015 Dr. Tim Dilg Principal St. John Vianney High School 1311 South Kirkwood Road St. Louis, MO 63122 Dear Dr. Dilg, If you are seeking an experienced leader with a proven track record of improving the lives and performance of teachers and students then I am the person for you. My previous school administrative positions, my 13 years of Catholic School education, as well as my years as a high school English teacher and coach have well equipped me to perform at high levels and help others to do the same. These experiences make me the perfect candidate for the position of High School Assistant Principal. Although I have held positions as principal and in district office, I was happiest as an Assistant Principal and would like to return to that role. Raising student achievement and motivating teachers to always set high expectations for themselves and their students has led to great academic gains in schools that I have worked with. I am positive that leading them to datadriven decision making is what led to two of our 5 schools making AYP for the first time in 6 years in the Asbury Park School district for the 2011 school year in my positions of Director of Curriculum and Instruction and Coordinator of Professional Development and Instructional Growth. Prior to this accomplishment, in my position of Assistant Principal in charge of Communication Arts in Pattonville, our students saw a growth of 20% from 30.2% to 50.4% in three years. During this same period, discipline declined dramatically by 66% for our 650 students. As Elementary School Principal, we saw a 46% decline in discipline in just my first year there. I have always shared with students, staff, and parents on a continual basis that high achievement is possible for all students if we just understand where they are and bring them to where they need to be. This can only be realized by staying positive, working well with others, and putting students first at all times. These are all qualities I possess. My passion for learning and sharing ways to help students with others cant be matched. Knowing that the key to reaching high expectations is having the necessary knowledge, tools, and resources, I provide support to the staffs I work with in every way. If I am selected, I will work with the team to identify strengths and areas of improvement, empower the other building administrators and teachers to celebrate and address those areas, and continually assess our progress toward total proficiency. After traveling the country for the past three years as the Programs and Education Coordinator for a national nonprofit of government officials, I am ready to return to a position in a school where I can live my passion of helping students thrive. I will be elated to use my leadership and strategic planning skills, strong convictions and work ethic to contribute to the success of the Lindbergh School District students. Bringing my experience with analyzing trends in both instructional growth and student behavior will be vital to the success of this position. I welcome the opportunity to discuss all the ways in which I can contribute to the Lindbergh School District as High School Assistant Principal. Sincerely,
