A Comparison of

Instagram Likes
by Jacob Burns & Victor Gaul

The Problem:

Jacob Burns often claims that Victor Gaul is a

tool and can get a lot of Instagram likes by
posting anything. Victor disagrees, saying that
Jacob is just as much of a tool and gets even more
likes than him.

The Study:

To solve the problem, a statistical analysis of Jacob

and Victors Instagram pictures is necessary.
Because their Instagrams have different sample
sizes, a sample of the most recent 30 photos will
be taken from each profile. The number of likes will
be recorded for each of the photos. Hypotheses
will then be tested to determine if there is
convincing evidence that Victor receives more
Instagram likes than Jacob. This is an observational
study, not an experiment. Please note that there
are confounding variables present in the study,
such as the number of followers each of them have
(Jacob has 580, while Victor has 698 because
hes a tool.)

The Conclusion:

Because of the incredibly high p-value of 0.999999,

I would fail to reject the null hypothesis. There is
absolutely no evidence to support that Victor gets
more Instagram likes than Jacob. A second test
was then performed for more analysis, in order to
see if there is evidence that Jacob in fact gets more
likes than Victor. Because of the p-value of
0.000000573, the null hypothesis would be
rejected. There is extremely convincing evidence
that Jacob receives more Instagram likes than
Victor. Jacob has no statistical evidence for calling
Victor a tool based on Instagram likes, because
he in fact gets more likes than Victor. He should
stop harassing Victor. However, he probably will
not.
