Learning Activity #1- Service practice. (1)

- Grade 8s- 3 teams of 4 and 1 team of 5
- Grade 9s- 5 teams of 5
- One team will have the kinball Td up in the key of
the bball court. To start, the teacher will serve the kin
ball out to a team who is waiting to catch it as a
team. In their groups of 4 or 5, they must work
together to catch the ball and when they do, they will
walk it back to the key. Awaiting teams who are on
the sideline watching, will go out into the open court
and wait for the next serve to take place. Focus of
this drill is on catching the kin ball as a team.
- After the teams have a chance to practice catching,
students will have practice serving the kin ball. The
kin ball will then be Td up by 3 students in a triangle
format, where the student who is serving comes from
the back of the ball and serves it forward using a 2
hand upward swinging motion.
Learning Activity #2- Centre serving(1,2)
- Put students back into their original teams.
- Team that starts in the middle is to serve the ball
anywhere in the gym and call out the colour of pinnie
they want to catch the ball.
- For example Omnikin Red! is yelled during the
serve. The red team has to form together while the
ball is in the air and catch it using 3+ of their team
mates.
- Go over as a group some challenges that might be
faced in this game. How might they be overcome?
Learning Activity #3- 4 corner serving (1,2)
- **Grade 9s will have to be split up into 4 teams for
this game**
- Split the vball court into 4 sections.
- 1 team is to occupy each corner of the court.
- Teams are to serve to any other corner of the court,
that team must work together to catch the ball and
when they do, they can now take the ball to the
middle of the vball court and serve to either of the 3
other corners.
- Students will have to take turns serving.
- Scoring system- if the team successfully catches the
kinball=2 points.
