    I am humbled and honored to be tasked with chairing the New York State Assembly sub-committee on Regulated Mortgage Lenders. I promise to work tirelessly with my fellow committee members to hold hearings, issue advisory reports, and hold this branch of the financial sector accountable to the people of New York. Since the mortgage crisis of 2007-2008 which led to skyrocketing foreclosure rates for residents of New York, this sub-committee has been charged with the important task of monitoring certified mortgage lenders who operate in this state. We must learn from the pass lending practices that led to hyper inflated housing market and had ultimately devastating effect on the working class families who were robbed of the American dream of home ownership. I stand committed to strengthening regulations on banks and prevent the practice of predatory equity lending so that average New Yorkers can safety save their money and purchase a home to raise their families in.
