PROCEDURE

PREPARATION OF THE LEARNING ENVIRONMENT: I have provided the

students with Venn diagrams and KWL charts that they may use to organize thoughts. I
also have the tables in groups if they have a question their classmates can help.
INTRODUCTION AND ORGANIZATION: Get your KWL charts and Venn
diagrams that you have been working on the whole week.
IMPLEMENTATION: We are going to write a letter to a friend to let them know
what you learned this week. Start out by telling them how much you knew in the
beginning. Then continue to compare your life with a student of Tanzania. I think if
you start out by brainstorming and making an outline of your ideas it will help you
write an organized letter. Once you have the organizational strategy finished bring it
to me before you start writing your letter. If you have any questions please ask the
people in your group and if you still dont understand, raise your hand and I will
come help.(The students begin to write.) Once the majority of the class is through I
will get the student to rotate their papers at their tables for their peers to edit their
papers. Make sure your name and whoever edits your paper name is on it. Once
they have finished their final drafts they will write a final draft in their best
handwriting.
CLOSURE: The students will fold their letters and put them in and envelope and
stamp them to be sent in the mail.

DIFFERENTIATION:
This lesson helps the students gather their thoughts on the whole week and share
it with someone else which helps learn the information that they have been working on.
Students that need more help will be able to get it at this time, because I will be able to go
around and assist those who need it.

WHAT COULD GO WRONG WITH THIS LESSON AND WHAT WILL YOU DO
ABOUT IT?
Students might have trouble making an outline and if they do I can make an example.
