Dear Senior Project Committee,

Since the very beginning, the concept of well being was directly intertwined with the most
common and effective factor: physical activity. In order to simplify the idea of well being, the term may be
divided into three wide-ranging aspects: mental health, physical health, and social health. When looking at
the Saudi Arabian community (in general), and the females in that particular community (in specific), one
could, obviously, notice the excessive cases of obesity, diabetes, and finally cancer. Moreover, Saudi
Arabian Ministry of health states, Saudi Arabia has a very high rate of major depression compared with the
rest of the world. Nevertheless, due to the countrys tradition and culture, there seems to be a lack of social
events in the country which allow women to expand their social groups only leading to regression in the
their social aspect of life. With all that was listed above, one could conclude that the females of the Saudi
Arabian community lack basic aspects of wellbeing. In order to solve these problematic issues, I have found
that by being physically active, and having a strong solid physical activity program at school will
tremendously help. I was enrolled in physical activities, my whole life, which allowed me to gain a huge
amount of knowledge about the benefits of these activities -knowledge including the correct ways to
exercise, the benefits of exercise, the different types of exercise, and what type of physical activity helps
with what type of problem. By researching about the direct link between physical activity and well being I
would be expanding my knowledge of how I could physically, mentally, and socially benefit from physical
activities. This is going to be a learning stretch for me because encouraging my self to exercise was never a
problem, though motivating others through a thorough research is definitely going to be a challenge.
Whilst searching about physical activities and wellbeing, I found that adding a physical education
system into saudi Arabian female schools could contribute to solving the problematic issues Saudi Arabian
females face today. Due to the limited amounts of physical activity opportunities, incorporating physical into
their daily lives, female teenagers will grasp the essential benefits allowing them to excel in psychological,
physiological, and sociological aspects. This research will explain to what extent running increases teenage
health, why we need to focus on female health in the first place, and finally how it would help increase a
females health. Furthermore, this research will explain the reasons how running will contribute in
increasing a females social life, as well as show the reasons how expanding your social groups through
running is beneficial in the long run. Finally, this research will help provide evidence for the importance of
incorporating high quality physical education classes around Saudi Arabia. This research will show that the
neither the Quraan nor the Sunna are against femals participating in physical activities thus there should be
no reason for why Saudi Girl schools dont incorporate a solid running curriculum. Eventually, due to the

fact that I am focusing on Saudi Arabian females who are Muslims- I will go about explaining how
incorporating running into your daily lives will make help make you a better Muslim all together. These
points will be backed up by resources including books, magazines, interviews, surveys, and of course the
internet.
In order to make this research reach its optimum benefits, I plan on helping my community by
working a total of 15+ hours. These hours will include personally training a number of students to run. Also,
I will be making a proposal to the Dhahran Ahliyya Schools administration about incorporating a running
curriculum in the PE classes starting grade 7. By doing all this, I wish to serve my society by teaching them
the importance of running, and giving them the push to incorporate it in their daily lives.
Finally, I would like to conclude my proposal by explaining my understanding of plagiarism, being a
student of Dhahran Ahliyya Schools we have pledged to go by the honor code. Although, we have pledged
to the school, I personally have pledged to God as a Muslim that acts of cheating, stealing and theft will not
come out of me.
I truly hope that you take into consideration my proposal due to the unlimited benefits the Saudi
Arabian females will gain from this project.

Yours truly,
Nadia Shihabuddin
