Experience about Recruiting and Hiring

Difficult to find qualified individuals locally.

Difficult to find faculty with Ph.D.
Increased the salary to attract the faculty.
Slim group of applicants with MA degree.
Easier to hire part-time teachers because lesser requirements.
Difficult to find part-time teachers with M.A. degree and ASLTA
certification.
Easier to find teachers with M.A. with 18 hours in the subject
area, than finding teachers with Ph.D.
Extremely difficult! For ASL classes, we prefer to hire Deaf
instructors, but hard to find a skilled ASL signer / instructor
with an MA degree.

Interpretations

19 responded that MA is required.

Difficult to find qualified teachers.
We need to establish more M.A. programs
in ASL Education or Teaching ASL.

Future actions

You as the teacher are a DRIVER.

Curriculum is an VEHICLE.
Teaching methods are the adaptive ROADS.
Students mastery of ASL is your DESTINATION.
