Physics In Motion Test Review

A Few Things to Expect
I will miss you guys/gals! Thanks for accepting me as
your temporary teacher.
You are allowed calculators on your test. NOT on your
phones though.
You can bring in ONLY a writing utensil/eraser, tab
booklets, calculator and your brains.
Here is a comprehensive list of everything youve done with
me
Be sure to review all assignments, labs, worksheets,
booklets, etc.!
In Motion Booklet (light grey): The main booklet we
used to take notes, what do you already know (true or
false), monster truck lab, Speed-Distance-Time
problems, acceleration problems.
Annotated Article (Reflection Questions)
Scooter Lab (acceleration)
Motion and Momentum Bill Nye worksheet
Newtons Law/Momentum/Braking Distance(Only Slot
E):
Group Questions from presentations
Dont forget about time and measurement conversions
(Tarsia Puzzle practice) and the 308 rule: You may want
to add to your tab booklets!

Here is a list of important key

Be familiar with answering questions like the ones below

remember to show the FIVE steps with UNITS.
**DO NOT FORGET THE 308 RULE!!!
Speed-Distance-Time Problems
1. Two hikers climbed 27.3 km up a mountain in 1.75 hours to reach the
summit. How fast did they climb?[easy example]
2. A Canada goose flies an average speed of 18 km/h. One sunny day it
flew for 6 hours and 37 minutes. How far can the goose travel in one
day?[time conversion]
3. Eris chases Carl because he took his phone. If Eris is running at 15 m/s
and catches Carl in 0.96 minutes, how far did they run?[time
conversion]
4. Victorias volleyball team ran 900 cm in 20 minutes. How fast were
they running in m/s?
[Distance conversion]
Acceleration Problems
1. Angelina and Brad saw a photographer for the Enquirer stalking them.
They were walking 5.6 m/s but decided to run because they did not
want to have their photos taken, they were going 12.5 m/s after 30
seconds.
a. What was their change in velocity?
b. What was their acceleration?

2. Snoop Dogg was drinking some hot chocolate but dropped it because it
was too hot. The mug had an acceleration of 9.8m/s 2 and was going
18.1m/s when it hit the ground.
a. What was the starting velocity of the mug? (hint: just like the
scooters in our scooter lab)
b. How long did it take the mug to hit the ground?
3. Someone drops their wedding ring off of a cliff into the water below
after getting into a heated argument with their spouse. The water
below is a distance of 1229.31 m and it takes 11.2 seconds to reach
the water. What is the acceleration of the ring into the water? (Hint:
This is a Speed-Distance-Time problem AND an acceleration problem).
***Stay tuned for questions posted from presentation handouts.
Questions on the test will be identical to these.
