T introduces subject to Ss by displaying a selection of pictures


of farm machinery on either smartboard or pictures already
printed for example, a machine used to milk cows, a plough, a
fruit picker, a combine harvester. T and Ss discuss these
machinery and Ss may add on any they know.

T displays on smartboard a machine used to milk cows


picture, asks Ss a series of questions:
What job does this piece of machinery do on a farm?
(Milks a number of cows at one time)

INTRODUCTION
What are the types of machinery used on
farms and what role do they play?
Describe purpose of a piece of farm
machinery

DEVELOPMENT
Predict how farm machinery may look in the
future.

How do you think that this job was done prior to the
introduction of this machine? (eg. Milk a cow by hand)
What are the advantages of using such a machine?
(Increased production of milk, quicker)
Can you think of any disadvantages?
Can you think of how this machine might change in the

T asks Ss to choose one of the farm machine pictures


displayed. T shows Ss Farm Machinery worksheet and models
to Ss how T would like it to be done. T tells Ss they will now
start the worksheet on Farm Machinery that has the series of
questions already modelled. Ss may use laptops, Ipads or
classroom books from the library to research and answer
these questions.

have time to do more at another stage.
T asks Ss to think about ways in which they can care for the
environment, eg. rubbish in bin, recycling etc. T asks Ss to
discuss/share their thoughts or ideas.

T discusses and reflects with Ss on what was learnt today. T


finishes by telling Ss to think more about their ideas on caring
for the environment, especially think about farmers and ways
they have or may care for the land they are using for the next
lesson.
