LESSON IDEA: WEBSITE-CREATION TOOLS

Name: Keilana M. Encarnacion

Directions: Using the template below, describe how students could use a blog, wiki, or other websitecreation tool to learn required learning standards in your content area: For an A grade provide an idea that
reaches a Level of Technology Implementation of 4 or above. Remember higher levels (4-6) require that
students assume adult/professional roles; engage in higher-order thinking; and use technology
create/publish original content for their classmates and/or others beyond their school/classroom. The
learning activities and products should be engaging and meaningful to the students and to others who will
view/use/benefit from students work. Review your handouts on Engaged Learning, Authenticity, and LoTi.

and activities clearly. a. Describe and compare things in terms of number, shape, texture, size, weight,
color, and motion. b. Draw pictures (grade level appropriate) that correctly portray features of the

The
Brief Description of Learning Experience: Students will form groups of 4 in each group. They will
gather different materials in the classroom, outside of the classroom and give a description about what they
see in that specific thing. Description may include how many, shape, size, and texture of the object. The

Remembering Understanding Applying Analyzing Evaluating Creating
Student Engagement: It is challenging and ebergetic and collaborative in that it has students socialize with
each other to figure out descriptions to describe the materials they had found. It is energetic for they go
outside and look for anything they find interesting and work with that.
Level of Technology Implementation (LoTi): This is LoTi level 4 for it is more student-centered in that it
has the student investigate themselves things outside and give it descriptions about everything they think
can describe the material they have found.
Importance of technology: It is critical to use web tools because it is a chance for the students to show
their parents what they had learned and done in the classroom and that is what also motivates the children.
Knowing that their parents will see the work they do, encourages them to listen and become engaged with
the assignment.
Inspiration (optional): If you used existing example as a model for your project (whether in part or
whole), include the URL(s) so we can visit. Explain what concepts you borrowed from others.

Internet Safety and Student Privacy: (1) to minimize the risks and concerns of safety for the students and
I, I am sure to have the blog only visible for administrators and parents of the children. (2) I would make
the students whom have permission to be viewed on the web (3) I would make sure that only information
necessary is in the blog. Not using personal numbers or the names of the students.
Describe your personal learning goal for this activity. Here I am trying to have the parents more
involved in what the students are doing in the classroom rather than just coming to parent teacher
conferences and hearing about what they learn and do. Also it helps me to see the point of view of the
parents in what they think of the activities.
