Reflection 3.c.

For the TESOL standard 3.c. I chose the artifact Technology Integration assignment.
This artifact was developed for the class ESC 529- Language and Literacies Acquisition in
Secondary Education, from the fall of 2014. The task for this assignment was to select a social
network technology and develop a page for supplementary instruction in my area of expertise. I
chose to work with Pinterest since it offers a big range of interesting materials that could be
helpful for the students, and it also works as a space for exchange of ideas and opinion for the
students and teacher.
The page I created for this assignment has a number of charts with interesting language
facts and clear explanations on language use that could be very helpful especially for ESL
students to develop their English language. Developing this artifact contributed to my awareness
of the different learning styles and the different options to make the classes interesting for the
students. It was also an opportunity for me to investigate the different media that is available and
to analyze its effectiveness in the students learning process, keeping in mind their diverse
backgrounds, language level proficiency, and their access to multimedia.
This artifact shows my ability to integrate multimedia in the classroom to motivate the
students to learn and offering supplementary materials to develop their content knowledge and
language acquisition in accordance to the TESOL standard 3.c. Candidates are familiar with a
wide range of standards-based materials, resources, and technologies, and choose, adapt, and use

them in effective ESL and content teaching . Materials selected are challenging, culturally
appropriate, interesting, motivating, linguistically accessible and age-appropriate, and supportive
of student learning. Candidates find, create, adapt and use a wide range of print and nonprint
resources, including ESL curricula, trade books, AV materials, webquests, podcasts, and other
forms of multimedia. They are able to select and use computer software, internet resources, and
other technological tools to enhance language and content instruction.
What I would like to take from this artifact to apply in the classroom is the use of
different means to foster language and content acquisition. I also would like to keep in mind the
importance of analyzing and selecting the best ways of stimulating the students to learn and
achieve success.
