Lyn Yee Choo achieved the No. 51 ranking in the ITA Women's Preseason
Doubles Rankings, the highest doubles ranking in program history. Last season,
Gerbasi went 14-5 in spring singles play and helped the Bucs win the Atlantic
Sun tournament championship and secure a berth in the NCAA Tournament.
Gerbasi's teammates came up with the questions. Below are Gerbasi's
responses:
1. What are your plans after graduation?
I would like to try the professional tennis tour. It has been my dream
since I started playing. It is really expensive and demanding, but
hopefully I would be able to at least give it a try, and after that get my
masters in sports management.
2. Why did you start playing tennis?
My dad used to play and then both of my parents used to have tennis
lessons Saturday mornings, and since I was really little I would go with
them and return the balls that they hit. I used to swim before, but
when I was 6 I injured my shoulder, and I never wanted to swim again.
My parents wanted me to do a sport, so after I recovered I started
playing tennis.
3. Who is your favorite athlete?
Andre Agassi.
4. What is something that not many people know about you?
Not many people know that I am really afraid of elevators.
5. Who is the best dancer on the team?
I would say Jess is.
6. What is a bad habit you have?
I have to put alarms and reminders for EVERYTHING. For every little
single thing I need to remind or do at certain time I would put an alarm
and if my phone doesnt remind me I would probably forget

7. What is your favorite quote?

I have so many, but one of my favorites at the moment is A man is a
success if he gets up in the morning and gets to bed at night, and in
between he does what he wants to do by Bob Dylan
8. What is the most adventurous thing you have done?
Swim in a natural Cenote in Mexico. The water was so cold, it was
super dark and there were little fish everywhere.
9. If you were not playing tennis what do you think you would be
doing?
I would probably be dancing. I used to be in a dance academy since I
was 3, dancing Ballet and Flamenco and that was one of the things I
had to give up once I decided to play tennis because I could not do
both things at the same time.
10. If you were not afraid of doing something, what would you do?
I would probably do Skydiving, hopefully one day I will.
11. What is your favorite thing to do off the court?
I like to paint, I am not awesome at it but it relaxes me a lot.
12. Who do you look up to most in life?
I admire my family in general for different reasons, but I think my
grandma is really special to me. She took care of me since I was little
when my parents couldnt. She is a real fighter and I really admire her.
13. What country do you most want to visit?
I think Morocco or Turkey. I had a teammate from Morocco last year
and the place looks so beautiful. She also visited Turkey and she told
me about it and it really made me want to go there.
14. If you could have dinner with somebody dead or alive who would it
be and why?
It is too hard for me to choose just one person. I think I would like to
have dinner with my Mom and my Dad, and my 4 Grandparents. I
didnt have the chance to meet my Grandfather on my Dads side, and
I never got the change to have dinner with all six together.
15. If you could have one thing in the world what would it be?
Happiness for my love ones and me
16. If you were an animal, what would you be?
An Eagle
17. Which is your favorite non-ETSU tennis memory?

This is actually a hard question because I think I have 2 tennis

memories that are without doubt better than any other non-ETSU
memory. The first one is when I won my first International Tournament
in Mexico, and I think is not because I won, but because I figured how
to win without playing my best. And the second one is when I reached
quarterfinals in a $10,000 future back home.
