Executive Summary
At the request of Martha Wilcox of Safe Kids Worldwide, Strauss Media Strategies, Inc. executed a two-hour
radio media tour, national television ground tour and one audio news release (ANR) featuring Kate Carr,
President and CEO of Safe Kids Worldwide. The campaign raised awareness about the dangers of medicine
poisonings in children and what steps parents should take to help safeguard their kids. Beyond the contracted
broadcast goals of the project, Strauss Media also delivered a high profile digital placement on NBCs
TODAY.COM.
For the radio portion of this project, initially projected to target a total of 12 interviews, Strauss Media
Strategies booked a total of sixteen radio interviews, which included interviews with four national networks,
three statewide news networks and nine local radio stations. One interview was conducted with Sirius XM
Satellite Radio, which does not subscribe to Nielsen ratings; however they have 25+ million subscribers
nationwide. Eleven radio interviews were taped and the remaining five were LIVE. The interviews took place
between Monday, March 16, 2015 and Thursday, March 19, 2015. .
The interviews reached more than 8,604 radio outlets with a combined audience of 9,559,200 people (based on
the latest data from Nielsen Audio). If one were to pay for equivalent advertising time for the interviews, which
amounted to a total of 160 airtime minutes, at the average 60-second spot rate of $911 for these outlets, it
would have cost a total of $145,760. In other words, this radio tour reached more than 9 million listeners and is
valued at more than one hundred and forty five thousand dollars.
Strauss Media also secured an interview with NBCs TODAY.COM. NBC News Digital reaches an audience of
more than 58 million unique visitors who generate more than 1.2 billion page views and 140 million online
video streams each month.
In regards to television, Strauss Media secured four national interviews. The interviews were conducted with
national feed services including CNN News Source, Fox News Edge, NBC News Channel and the national
Spanish-language morning show, Un Nuevo Dia on Telemundo.
All told, the completed television interviews reached a combined audience of 3,463,806. If one were to pay
equivalent advertising time for the interviews, it would have cost a total of $84,516. In other words, these
placements reached nearly three-and-a-half million viewers and are valued at more than eighty four
thousand dollars.

Strauss Media Strategies also produced and distributed one sixty-second audio news release. Strauss Media
Strategies recorded a sound-bite for the ANR with Kate Carr. For this project, Strauss Media Strategies
distributed the ANR to ABC/WAND and CBS Radio networks for distribution to their network affiliates. We
secured guaranteed placements on Radio America and USA Radio Network. The ANR began distribution
Wednesday, March 18, 2015.
Under the distribution agreements, the ANR was made available six different times to all 2,200 ABC Radio
affiliates with a combined AQH audience of 3,300,000 listeners. The ANR was also distributed by
the Washington Audio News Distribution Service (WAND) to 6,800 domestic affiliates with a combined
AQH audience of 10,500,000 listeners. WAND also serves Sirius-XM Satellite Radio, which has 25+ million
total subscribers. Additionally, the ANR was made available twice during morning drive to all 538 CBS
Radio affiliates with a combined AQH audience of 1,859,000 listeners. In summary, through the distribution
agreements with ABC/WAND and CBS, the ANR was made available to 9,538 radio outlets with a combined
potential audience of 15,659,000 listeners. However, actual pick up and usage by these radio outlets cannot be
tracked and documented.
As for guaranteed broadcast, Strauss Media Strategies worked with the Radio America Network where the
ANR aired twice during morning drive (The Doug Stephan Show), and once during the midday show
(Business Rockstars) reaching a total of 352 unique stations and a total AQH audience of 255,000 listeners.
Additionally, the ANR aired on the USA Radio Network and reached a total of 354 unique stations and a total
AQH audience of 321,100 listeners. In summary, through guaranteed broadcast on Radio America and USA
Radio, we can document that the ANR was broadcast over 706 unique radio stations with a combined AQH
audience (impressions) of 576,100. If one were to pay for equivalent advertising time for the guaranteed
distributions at the average 60-second spot rate of $150 for these outlets, it would have cost a total
of $105,900.
All told, the combined RMT, Ground Tour and ANR campaigns reached a total of 9,314 outlets across the
country and more. The full campaign amounted to a total combined audience of 13,599,106 AQH
listeners and viewers. The combined total ad equivalency value is $336,176.
