Types of Energy

Arsema Abraha & Emily Diaz

Chemical Energy

Chemical Energy is energy stored in the bonds of chemical

compounds (atoms and molecules). It is released in a chemical
reaction, often producing heatas a by product (exothermic reaction).

Thermal Energy

Thermal energy results in an object or a system having a

temperature that can be measured.

Kinetic Energy

All moving things havekinetic energy. It is energypossessed by an

object due to its motion or movement

Potential Energy

An object can storeenergy as the result of its position.

1. Which energy type(s) are considered to be an energy of position or

stored energy?

2. Describe an example of an object having kinetic energy.

3. Thermal energy comes for the root therm- which means:

4. Give an example in which chemical energy could be transformed

into thermal energy.

Lab Conclusion
Before we started our lab our hypothesis was that the ice was more
likely to melt caused by the change in temperature. According to that
our hypothesis was correct because the ice did melt when it was
replaced in a different temperature of water. During our lab there
were some increase and decrease at the same time. That depended on
the amount of variables we had. For example when we put warm
water in a beaker of ice the ice melts or decreases while the amount of
water increases. If we try to connect this in to real life, when you are
in a restaurant and you ordered a cup of cold soda, it comes with ice
cube, after time and the temperature of water changes the ice cubes
melts and changes in two water and that causes an increase in water.
If we see some fields that has anything to do with this lab we did are
USGS, and NSIDC Scientific Expedition.
