Name of Activity: Checking in children into program

Transition Activity
Name of Activity: 20 Questions (waiting for bathroom)
#of players: 29

Equipment: No equipment necessary


Equipment: Tables, sign in sheet, manipulatives (legos, lincoln
blocks, magnetic tiles), books, and puzzles
Directions: When the bell rings children will check-in into
program. They all line up as they come to check-in. Once they
are checked in, they will go to the tables and socialize and/or
play while everyone is getting checked in.

Transition Activity
Name of Activity: Reading books, magazines, newspapers (waiting
for friends to finished cleaning up)
#of children: 12

Directions: While friends are going to the bathroom and we are


waiting, we are answering questions that will keep them engaged
and entertained while waiting. For example:

What are you looking forward to do over the weekend?


What was the most interesting thing that happened today?
What is your favorite game, color, food and why?
If you could be any animal, which one would you be and
why?

Transition Activity
Name of Activity: Black Magic (waiting in line)
#of children: 15

Equipment: No equipment needed


Equipment: Different types of reading materials such as books,
magazines, newspapers, articles, pamphlets
Directions: As children finish cleaning up their area, they go to
the quiet carpet area where the book shelf is with lots of
reading materials to explore and they choose something to read.
They can read alone or with someone as they wait for their
friends to finish cleaning up their area.

Directions: While we wait in line, we play Black Magic.


1. A child who knows the secret goes away where he/she
doesnt hear the group.
2. The group picks something for the child who is away to
guess.
3. Once the item has been chosen, the child comes back
and tries to guess the item.
