Analyze learners
This lesson focuses on grade three students, most of these students are in the 8-10 age groups,
which most females come from lower or middle class families. Based on the students physical
appearance and abilities it is safe to say that they are sound in both areas. However one student is
having some social problem. This student usually was the most cooperative of all the students
when doing science. Learning styles in this classroom varies from visual to auditory and few
have difficulty staying focused during class. In order to deal with these issues lessons are
planned to accommodate students attention span.

Objectives: Students should be able to:


1) Describe facilities in the home.
2) List three or more things that are unsafe in the home during discussion.
3) Make at least five sentences telling ways in which they can be harmed at home after poem is
read.
4) After lesson students should be able to role play a scenario where they are in harms way at
home.
Selected media materials and methods
Brochure
The teacher will use the brochure to introduce some the unsafe things in our home and
what they can do to stay safe.
Interactive PowerPoint
Allow students to be active participants in their learning. This PowerPoint contains
activities which will enhance students knowledge about things that are unsafe in their
homes.
Utilize media and materials
Preview materials
Teacher will preview the brochure to ensure that all information placed on it is accurate
and comprehensible for students to effectively understand.
For the interactive PowerPoint, the teacher seeks the availability of the materials
(speaker, projector and computer). The volume of the speakers should be at a medium
level so that the students can hear properly without having to strain their ears or move out
of their seats. With all these being done students are likely to actively engage in the
activity.
Prepare materials

Before the delivery of the lesson, computers and projectors are set in place and all the
necessary plug-ins are done for clarification .this is to ensure that materials are well
prepared and wont cause any trouble when ready to use.
Prepare environment
The students and the teacher will arrange the seats so that enough space is there for the
projector and computer, which will be used throughout the lesson.
Prepare the learners
The teacher will read a poem about unsafe things in the home and also tell the reason
why the projector and computer will be used. Teacher will tell students what to listen and
look for.
Provide the learning experience
The teaching strategy that will be used is guided discovery which is a student centered
approach. The teacher will act as a facilitator providing help to students that need to
explore more.
Required learner participation
1) Teacher will introduce the lesson by giving the students a brochure, which shows the students
facilities in the home which are unsafe, after which teacher will have a discussion about the
information on the brochure.
2) Teacher will ask students to individually list three or more things that are unsafe In the home.
3) Students should make at least five sentences telling ways in which they can be harmed at
home after poem is read.
4) Teacher will ask students to role play a scenario where they are unsafe at home.
