Abortion
A great majority of the nation is divided on the subject of abortion. There are many
people who say that theyre against it, while most of the rest say theyre for it. However, the rest
of the population is undecided or has more of a neutral standpoint on the matter, given the
scenario.
Some instances in which some might side with the for side are in the cases of sexual
abuse and rape, lack of monetary means for the oncoming child, or as a form of birth control.
Many abortionists would venture to say that when a woman has been abused in sexual ways, and
pregnancy is a product of said abuse, some might say that woman should not have to live with
raising the child, as she most likely had no way of preventing it.
One instance in which abortionists are incorrect is when they try to use the capital excuse
of We just dont have the money to support a child, even when the intercourse is consensual,
especially without the use of another contraceptive. Cassandra Daniels, 15 at the time, was
meeting with a man who was 24 and they began delving into sexual activities. When Cassandra
got pregnant, she had no idea about what to do, saying "I didn't want a baby," she says, "and I
sure didn't want it by this guy. He didn't have a job, and he was a liar. I would have to live off my
mother. And then what? I couldn't go to the college I wanted. I had big plans for myself

have had the money to support a child, but could they not have bought and then proceeded
with the use of a condom during intercourse? Theres an old saying that goes, The best
contraceptive is abstinence, and really, it is only because all of the others can fail. So why take
the risk of conception when you can simply avoid the entire case with (at most) a dollar, or even
better yet, for free by just abstaining from sexual activities in the first place?
Abortion is unethical, and there are several cases that prove this even more. First, you
are essentially ending the life of a developing human, and there is yet another saying that goes
Fill in the blank; It is okay to kill a child when ____. Then in a newspaper, Emma Meconi
mentioned that she is pro-life only because she would never terminate an unborn child, saying
My view is not moulded by religious belief. I avoid pro-life activists as much as I avoid prochoice activists. But seeing the delight, laughter, and richness children add to our lives, whether
we are ready for them or not, is inspiring (Meconi 21).
Using abortion as a form of birth control is not something that should ever technically be
done, as the individual enacting said birth control would be continually aborting unborn
fetuses. Theresa Flores, 15 or 16 at the time of her first abortion, later said in an interview with
Ilan Greenburg that, I basically used abortion as a form of birth control, she says. I just kept
getting pregnant because I thought I wanted it. But then I would decide that I would rather get an
abortion, (Waldman, Ackerman, Reed, Greenberg, Cutter, Sieder, and Lavelle pp. 20+).
Many people support abortion, while many others do not. The difference between the
two is that one of the groups supports the murder of unborn children. Abortion is the killing of
children, and there is no reason for anyone to advocate it.
