Abe- Fenghuang (Phoenix)

Origin in china, a mythical being that co-created the world (with dragon) it is
related to the peacock, but was westernised and turned into a fire bird. The fire came
from it making colored fireworks as it flies. It is the color of the rainbow and gives good
luck when you see it. It is shy and fragile, but if you save its life it will grant you one

wish. The pokemon Ho-Oh is a phoenix. The Fenghuang eats snakes, this is a symbol
that that they defeat evil or trickery (because snakes are evil). It is said that the
Fenghuangs fireworks are so bright and loud that they bring lifelong happiness. As
stated earlier, the phoenix was westernised into a fire bird. It was depicted as a mythical
being derived from a hawk, more than a peacock. It is constructed in flames and
eventually burns out into ash, but then rises from the ashes as a new. This, in sorts,
makes it imortal. However it is vulnerable in its weak stage before it burns out. To
conclude, Fenghuang magic, Phoenix fire, snakes evil.

just bored so I thought I would put one in for people.) Good job!

Cloe- Gryphon
Spelled Gryphon, griffin, or griffon, is a legendary creature with the body, tail, and back legs of a
lion; the head and wings of an eagle; and an eagle's talons as its front feet. Because the lion
was traditionally considered the king of the beasts and the eagle the king of birds, the griffin was
thought to be an especially powerful and majestic creature. The griffin was also thought of as
king of all creatures. Griffins are known for guarding treasure and priceless possessions. They
represent courage and boldness, intelligence and strength, it is also a protector from evil, and
witchcraft. They are watchful and loyal, graceful and swift, rapacious and vengeful, monstrous
and divine. Its magic talons have detected poison and its feathers have cured blindness in some
myths. Known as Grypes in many different medieval stories and cultures these winged
monsters would find gold in the mountains and built nests from it. This lured hunters, so griffins
kept a very hostile guard over their nests. They would eat the men and devour their horses. In
hieroglyphics, griffins represent heat and summer. In Mesopotamia the griffin, as well as the
dragon, were symbols of wisdom. In Roman art, griffins are often pulling the chariot of Nemesis
(goddess of justice and revenge). They have also pulled the chariots of Pharaohs, Apollo, and
Alexander the Great. It is used to indicate strength, military courage and leadership. As a
major heraldic animal, it has been displayed on the shields of knights and on the coats of arms
and royalty. In the Iron Age the griffin was again prominent in both Asia and Greece. The griffin
was in some sense sacred, appearing frequently in sanctuary and tomb furnishings. The
gryphon was/is found frequently in art, but very rarely in writing.

the ancient Greek historian Herodotus wrote But in the north of Europe there is by far the most
gold. In this matter again I cannot say with assurance how the gold is produced, but it is said
that one-eyed men called Arimaspians steal it from griffins. But I do not believe this, that there
are one-eyed men who have a nature otherwise the same as other men. The most outlying
lands, though, as they enclose and wholly surround all the rest of the world, are likely to have
those things which we think the finest and the rarest.

[excerpt from Prometheus bound] But now listen to another and a fearsome spectacle.
Beware of the sharp-beaked hounds of Zeus that do not bark, the Grypes , who dwell
about the flood of Plouton's stream that flows with gold. Do not approach them."

yeah no problemo
