CHAPTER 2

LITERATURE SURVEY
In this chapter, a brief survey of the literature relevant to the present work is
presented. First, a very brief general overview of the works carried out over the
years in the area of sludge collector head shaft is presented. Next, types and
techniques for modeling initial imperfections and measurement of imperfections
are discussed. Finally, several excellent literature reviews pertaining to the random
imperfection modeling and reliability calculations have been presented.
