Module 13: Audio Effects and Music (Optional)

1.) Identify an example of audio effects and/or use of music and provide an opinion of
why the example is more effective in engaging the audience.
Sound effects are artificial sounds that are used in movies, plays, etc.
Examples:

Delay / Echo
Delay is a simple concept the original audio signal is followed closely by a delayed repeat, just like an
echo.

Equalization
Equalization means boosting or reducing (attenuating) the levels of various frequencies in a signal.

Music (different genres):

Love song- We are never ever ever getting back together by Taylor Swift
Rock- We will Rock You by Queen
Pop song- Roar by Katy Perry
For example, if youre going to see a movie and the movie that you're watching does not
have any sound. How can you enjoy the movie, be touched by it, or even understand it
there is no sound. Our senses are very important. If were missing one of them, it might be
hard for us interpret an event, thing, person/people, etc.
2.) Research sources and production techniques for audio effects.

Reverb
Reverb is short for reverberation, the effect of many sound reflections occurring in a very short space of

3. Explore and review audio effects from a variety of sources.
Soundblox

Pop filter
A pop filter or pop shield is an anti-pop noise protection filter for microphones, typically
used in a recording studio. It serves to reduce or eliminate 'popping' sounds caused by the
mechanical impact of fast moving air on the microphone during recorded speech and
singing.
