If you make a pair of test leads similar to

this it will make testing much easier

Notes
All the readings below are taken without power or connection to the ECU.
The connection to ECU socket is made using a couple of pins from a computer serial plug.
The readings below were taken from my Vll Sport, other bikes will be slightly different. Record what you find for future reference______
1/ Use pin 22 of the ECU connector as a common reference point for Air temperature, Oil temperature and Throttle position sensors
2/ From pin 22 to pin 1 of ECU connector should read 2k - 3k Ohms (Throttle Position Sensor)____________
3/ From pin 22 to pin 11 of ECU connector should read from ~1.5k to 3k Ohms as throttle is opened from idle to wide open ______to_______
4/ From pin 1 to pin 11 of ECU connector should read from ~2.7k to 1.1k Ohms as throttle is opened from idle to wide open______to_______
5/ From pin 22 to pin 18 of ECU connector should read from ~4.75k Ohms (Air Temp sensor, changes with air temp - see chart)_________
6/ From pin 4 to pin 22 of ECU connector should read from ~4.75k Ohms (Oil Temp sensor, changes with oil temp - see chart)__________
7/ From pin 3 of ECU connector to chassis should read from 4.75k Ohms (Tachometer)__________
8/ Use pin 87 of injection relay R5 as a common reference point for measuring resistance of coils and injectors.
9/ From pin 87 of R5 to pin 6 or pin 13 of connector should read 17 Ohms (Right & Left injectors)_________
10/ From pin 87 of R5 to pin 14 or pin 20 of connector should read 0.7 Ohms (Right & Left Ignition coils)_________
For measuring low resistance, short meter probes together to get lead resistance then subtract this value from test reading.
11/ From pin 7 to pin 12 of ECU connector should read ~680 Ohms (Timing sensor)___________
12/ Not all bikes have the ECU warning light fitted
V11 Sport ECU Test Point
13/ It was bought to my attention that not all throttle position sensors are the same resistance so don't
be too concerned about matching, provided it puts out the correct mV from idle to WOT it's ok
