The GreenGasGrids project delivers positive results thanks to its

influence in market actors and the international cooperation
Brussels. The results and impacts achieved within the framework of our GreenGasGrids project have
now been published, based on the inputs collected from the 1st of June 2011 to the 31st of May 2014
through an extensive exercise involving stakeholders and starter and forerunner participant countries
in the development of the biomethane sector.

According to the recent Final GreenGasGrids Project Report, until the end of the action the project
consortium succeeded to influence market actors to invest in the erection of 24 new biomethane
projects. These achievements are important not only for the opportunity of the participant countries to
be feed in a much bigger amount of additional biomethane, but also for the increase in the investment
triggered during this activity, a total of 288 million.

Certainly, based on the results obtained, most of the figures predicted at the beginning of the process
have been exceeded. The cumulative investment made by European stakeholders in sustainable energy
after the project was more than two times higher than planned, shows the information contained in the
final report. Furthermore, the renewable energy production generated through the project work in tons
of oil equivalent per year was with 97,073 toe likewise two times higher than planned. It involves a CO2
reduction of 180,000 tons CO2, compared to the 75,000 tons CO2 that were originally foreseen.
EU-Roadmap and publications
The GreenGasGrids project published outcomes and results in nine EU key media, doubling the amount
planned initially. In addition, up to 150 people and 98 key stakeholders attended the workshops
organized during the info days. Out of which, a minimum of five stakeholders were planning to take the
Biomethane EU-Roadmap prepared by our project into consideration for future work.

It follows that contacts enhanced the international network even further and helped GreenGasGrids to
become a well-known platform for European biomethane actors that distributes biomethane related
information, provides scientific publications and organizes study tours and info days.
You may find the complete version of the final report and any further information on the website of our
project www.greengasgrids.eu.

The Green Gas Grids project aimed at establishing an exchange between the partner countries in order to boost the biomethane
market development and enhance knowledge in a pan-European perspective. The project was funded by the Intelligent Energy for
Europe programme. The countries that took part were divided into two groups: countries where biomethane is at an early stage
of development (starter countries), and countries where biomethane is already produced and a market for it exists (forerunner
countries). The group of starter countries comprised the UK, Italy, Croatia, Hungary, Poland and Slovakia. Forerunner countries
were Germany, France, Austria and the Netherlands. Switzerland and Sweden joined the consortium as observers.
