DOUGLAS GORDON
Douglas Gordon born 20th September 1966 is a Scottish artist, he won the
turner prize in 1996 and the following year he represented Britain at the
Venice Biennale. He lives and works in Berlin.
Much of Gordons work is seen as being about memory and uses repetition
in various forms. He uses material from the public realm and also creates
performance based videos. His work often overtuns traditional uses of
video by playing time and elements and employing mutltiple monitors.
His work looks very simple but yet effective as a lot of his exhiptions are
just projectors projecting a clip in a big room but the video potrays a
meaning, for example he has done work where the phycho scene was
slowed down for 24 hours using the technique of duration.
